Local news just gave hard freeze forecast for Friday night Saturday morning west of Chicago.  Think they're right?

MORNING ALL

LANI   Aww on your good night mama hugging baby kitty

LISA   Too bad you have to go glasses hunting again. Taking someone with can be helpful  :-*

PHYL    Yes we used to have milk delivered in glass bottles by the Milkman - I think it was once a week.  On our b-days we got chocolate  LOL  Is the second pic and electric shaver?   Thanks for the latest RRP link

Good Morning Beakers! Good morning Phyl, Puff, tsk, Lisa & Lani!

Phyl, nice sunrise on the Flyway, just a few lights on in the distance, I imagine the birds are all quietly talking to each other...  I remember our milk being delivered when we lived in England, early 60s. Here's an article you might enjoy: https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/heres-the-price-of-milk-the-year-you-were-born/
We had a box like this on the porch                                                                  because of this:

Thanks for the RRP article, very interesting.  Glad the new couple are settling in good, it will be a long winter waiting to see what happens! How is Jim doing? Hope you both have a good day today, and Maggie too!  I had a shaver like that pink one!

Lisa, it's not a good thing when your glasses aren't right... I had a pair that kept popping out, I finally asked for a new pair, and they gave me no problem!

Lani, sweet good night kitties...hope you get some helpful news for Mike soon. I am tired this morning, I defrosted/cleaned out the big upright freezer in the garage last night after Bella left.  And I realize I didn't post any pictures!

tsk, your ledge was so pretty! But I know how you feel. I am going to call a company that the girls across the street used this spring, to clean up the back yard. We just can't do it anymore, and they will do anything you want! We have a big yard since we are on the corner, plus, Ed has made some messy places with his tomatoes. Amd jis junk!  Milk delivery, something the kids of today cannot even imagine...

lilbirdz, welcome to the Beak Room!

baz, so many different kinds of apples these days! I like the Honeycrisp, they have been having them on sale around here recently. A good ol' Jonathon is still good too!

jaspurr, hope you have a wonderful day today, yesterday has passed!

Bounce
Phyl...thanx for the update from Amy
A high of 46 is forecast for where we are today. It took us 6 hours to get where we are instead of the usual two. Sometimes it is interesting be married to a photographer.  :o
A few more zzz until I don my stocking cap and jacket and head home. Yes, just a quick one-nighter. LOL. I grew up even doing day trips... back when it took 3 hours one way!
BL... "the colors are beautiful, wish you were here" or, some version of that. LOL.
We used a 50% off coupon we had and actually landed the honeymoon suite. Nice room. I gotta limp downstairs (elevator) and check out the breakfast.  ;)

Very cool morning here.......

33 is predicted here as the coldest morning on Saturday....then a milder pattern once again...high of 56 only today...

Lisa - yes I always carry pepper spray wrapped around my wrist...and when I feel uncomfortable I have my thumb on the red button...Ollie's leash handle lays higher up on my wrist...

This is an interesting video of Madagascar lemurs talking to each other....Hearing it only from say another room is annoying, but watching them like I did I ask myself what are they saying to each other? :D :D

Good Morning Beakers

PUFF, TSK, KB and others west of Chicago,  better get those tropical plants inside.

Just finished your coffee LISA.  Didn't you just get some new glasses?

Waiting for the dryer repair man.   :(

Morning Puff  :)

Phyl - I remember those Borden milk jugs.  When I was younger, and lived in New Orleans on I-10 there was a Borden's facility.  They had a big Elise the cow that was out front the building and it spun around. Beautiful Flyway pic!  Thanks for the RRP post.

tsk - I know, I wish Jeff would have went with me again this time to pick out the glasses.

clynn - Adorable pics of Bella!  You are right, not a good thing when your glasses aren't right.

tig - Glad you are back home safe.   :)

kb - Ok, glad that you carry the pepper spray.

jaspurr - I got new glasses last year.  Hope the dryer repairman arrives soon, nothing like sitting home all day and being the last one.

Yah!

Both Mr. and Mrs. Tower are here this morning....

All my tropicals and tender plants are inside for the last week or two....safe and sound for the winter...
(2 tropical house plants, hibiscus, wandering jew, and anthurium)

with the strong NW winds coming in overnight the leaves from all the neighbors have found my driveway in front :D :D so I'm happy I laid fertilizer and seed down 2 days ago..

After mulching the back twice it is now once again covered...my additional seed and fertilizer won't be here before the weekend..so, I will have to mow again in order to quick drop in the back.

I had to step outside to get this without a tripod so kinda far away....just for my computer to log my first siting of them for this season...a document if you will.

CLYNN   Thanks for the much needed words of inspiration this AM.   Besides the exorbitant price of milk, I found Salmon # 2 on the list of high calcium foods - almonds in there too  ;D ;D   Leafy greens and oatmeal are the other two on that list that I eat.    Our milk was put in a small like dog door that went directly into our kitchen.  As kids we would get in the house that way if Mom forgot to leave the key in the milk door. LOLOL  Neighborhoods were so safe then.  Actually I think Oberweiss  still delivers milk.   Love the second pic of Bella -  ;D    You must have had a lot of energy left to tackle what I would call a half day project for me - the garage freezer  :o

TIG  Boy you guys sure do travel a lot  LOL

KB   Lemurs in conversation  :o :o :o :o :o   YAY  the Tower pair back in action  :)

LISA   Oh no - the dryer needs repair  :P

Good Morning Beakers

We had a low of 46 this morning - another day in the low 70s for the high.  Sat morning our forecast is 34 for the low - some frost may be possible. the record low for today is 23, so freezing temps are about due.

Minimal reaction to my covid booster shot - slight tenderness when I push on the area of the shot, but not affecting movement this morning...

I picked up some apples yesterday after the conversation here - SweeTango and Rave - I found the Sweetango to be too tart for my taste buds, but would expect it to be great as a cooked/baked use.  The Rave was juicy to the point of needing a napkin - but excellent taste balance between sweet and tart.  Also a nice size for a snack.  Both were on sale for $1.99/lb.
KB - I see that your store's apple prices are about 50% higher then WalMart and Cub Foods in your area - which for most of the varieties are about the same as here.

I had an Uncle that delivered milk in the Marquette Ia. area from my grandfathers farm for about 15 years - ended it in 1941 when about half of the farm was condemned for the Effigy Mounds National Monument.  He ended up opening a soft serve ice cream shop.

Catch everyone later

oldguy - thanks for that information...

The closest Walmart to me is a very dangerous one....it's on the freeway between Bloomington and my city and it's so bad inside people don't go there anymore..

Cub - ugg, I have a nearby one but I so hate the layout I won't go inside just for apples...my brain just doesn't line up with their planners I guess ;) ;)

My Lunds/Byerlys is one block away which is the one where honeycrisp WERE 4.99 each all summer but on sale now at 3.99...

I have stated before my Whole Foods is always 30 percent cheaper and the food is healthier...it's also further away from me than Lunds...but I alternate between the 2 in a month...every 7-10 days as there is always something at one store and not the other, right?

yah, my pork butt is on sale at whole foods this week...6.99 a pound...makes for great carnitas.

In either case the Whole Foods honeycrisp were also expensive but I bought there RAVES and I do like them...they were also about a buck cheaper..

As I've stated before MN food prices for some reason are the or one of the highest in the Nation...
I routinely pay 7 bucks for 4 sticks of butter these days and as we all know it's much more than that.
I've figured out I now spend 30 percent more for food than I did than when we had another adult living with us.
Can't do the math on that one this early in the am.
