kb, there is a Crisis Response International on Facebook, which is focused on Hurricane Ian right now.  https://www.facebook.com/criout  I don't know what my ash tree died from, a guy that worked for the lawn service told me it was an elm tree. It was always the first tree to lose it's leaves in the fall, and in just a few days. I posted a picture of it in the spring this year here in the Beak and was told it was an ash tree. I have seen them dead all over the midwest.

Lisa, I found a good cat hair remover for carpet, upholstery and such, (not for soft things unless you can hold it taut). My cats love it! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099RGNZJL/ref=as_li_ss_tl?SubscriptionId=AKIAJO7E5OLQ67NVPFZA&ascsubtag=189749829-2-1306656625.1661777190&tag=shopperz_origin4-20

tsk, we all know the carpet trimming chore, also on bathroom rugs... :D  No, karen decided to stay where she is, no progress, still in bed all the time, just won't do what needs to be done. She keeps saying she is going to get PT but has not done anything. Micky was there for 2 weeks, I don't know what she did, maybe she talked her into staying there, I don't know. Very discouraging... They just got rain and some wind there where she is.

Lori, glad your Uncle JC and Peanut are okay, one less thing to worry about... would love it if you could spend a little more time here with us, we all miss you... and your wonderful goodies!

My car goes in Tuesday for the hail repairs. I would not believe the amount they approved - $8,200!  Ed's is $7,600!

Erin and Family stopped by to pick up the branches trimmed from the oak  tree last week, the Munchkins were wound up! We did get them to sit for a minute:

Clynn - yes that is the page she responded from

I don't know how a lawn service guy could mistake an elm from an ash...Ash have leaves that are across from each other, elm leaves alternate...I believe when you posted that pic peeps thought it was ash from the diamond pattern of the bark...anyway, it probably died from ash borer....my question was the thought of whether you treated it or not...if it died, I'm guessing you didn't and may not have known it was an ash.
That's too bad.

Hi Puff - I actually don't think I have ever had a Kona coffee!  I buy the whole bean Starbucks at Costco and put it in their grinder before leaving the store!

Tsk - So nice that you took Lucy's stuff to the shelter to help others, but I know it can't be easy to bag up stuff that was intended for Lucy. {{Tsk}}.

Clynn - Wow, amazing pic from Bonita Springs.  Like the cute pic of Talon for 'Sons day'

Phyl - I am like you in the way that I can think of my past beloved pets and feel sadness.  I think we all miss our pets - even years later it hurts. {{Phyl}}

Jaspurr - Awe, hugs for you too in missing your Jaspurr.

Puff - That is nice that one of your trees only requires one rake & clean up job!

BL - Thank you for good info and links.

LisaG - Wow - you fared pretty good for having had both a shingles vac and a flu shot all in the same visit. Good for you!  ;D :)

Tig - Good for you guys in getting your booster.  Do you mean 'covid' booster?

Kb - Glad Mr. Tower has returned!  ;D

Lani - Wishing Mike will feel better and less discomfort soon.

Peep - Cute pics!

Hi Oldguy  :)

Hi Lori, T40, Pink, Weasel, Blschue, Baz, Lilbro  :)

Good night Beakers  :)

Good night Beakers  :)

It's been a busy day, a tiring one, we returned from the valley this early evening. We met Shannon outside of Mesa, she helped us with shopping and drove Aly to the airport.
Aly is flying to Santa Fe to pick up her things in storage there, pack them in a U-Haul, and drive it back here. Mike met his doctor for a quick appointment
and MRI is set for Monday afternoon. I've been very thankful and feeling blessed with the girls help with their dad.

Aly has one week left with her internship at Community Bridges here in Payson. And then another week of finishing up her school term... then graduation in November! We have plans to attend her graduation. I've reserved an Air B/B two bedroom home that allows dogs for the first weekend in November. Hopefully, Mike will be able to make the trip to Santa Fe.

Over these past summer months, Aly had grown to love being involved with and caring for the clients of CB. She's worked hard for this new path she's taken in her life, it's been
an emotional journey too. CB has offered her a full time job, though she won't get her professional license until January, they want her to join them, starting in mid-November. She's waiting to hear from Human Relations to go over salary, etc... anyway Aly said yes, and declined the offer of joining a family therapy group in Oregon. So, she'll be living here in Payson. She and Dewey will live with us until she can find an apartment or small home to rent.

We're thrilled for her and excited she has finally found what she has been searching for her whole life.
I know you all will understand how much this means to us too.

Sorry, I'm behind in our Beak Room news, I hope you, family and friends have had a good day.
Especially those of you with loved ones in Florida and in the storms continuing path.

{{{Tsk and Tim}}} you've been in my thoughts today.

...Happy Caturday !

With Ian and his destruction I'm reminded of the all the vists to Jim's big sister, Jane, in Cape Coral, Florida when she was alive. She joyously took us on tour  of Ft. Myers, Naples,  Sanibel, Captiva and many more areas and locations, i.e. Thomas Edison home, the Ford winter estates,Locmore ,   Ernest Hemmingway house and it's colony of polydactyl cats to name a few. The Everglades, Manatee Park Ft Myers and more. Each visit brought a new itinerary. So sad now to think of all those areas and place suffering such destruction and pain. Jane and her daughter, Polly, would be so heartbroken. As jim and I . Praying for Florida and her families.  :-*

It was down to 50F last night.  Our forcast:  79F and sunny.  Night time low  50F.

Lani   I'll be celebrating  with you, Mike and Shannon, Aly's  professional achievement and graduation ;)    So glad Mike had a chance to meet his Doc and schedule his MRI for this Monday... How wonderful  that your daughters will be in town and close. {{{}}}  Please keep us posted.

BL many thanks for the Nat'l Hurricane Ctr.  5-day Forecast Track, map.

KB hurrah a visit from Mr. Tower Surely, Mrs. Tower isn’t far behind.

Lori glad to know your Uncle JC and Peanut are alive and well. Sweet kitten and pup.

Eagles  hope all is well  with you and  yours. I think it was you who had inquired about the Medicare issue we had with payment on Jim's hospital . On th at front, we got some wonderful news in the mail yesterday with letters from BC/BS and Medicare advising had reversed their non-pay decision solely based on what his hospt doctors said in their appeal.  Thank God!

Tsk Hope  Karen will be  happy staying  where she is  at present . Kinda of discouraging on the PT, too.    Thinking of {{you and Tim}}...knowing that one day this will be me with Maggie.

Oldguy thanks for Ryan’s update on Ian in South Carolina   :(

While grocery shopping yesterday I got the flu shot for this year.  I also found out I did the two shingle shots, did them in 2020.  I'll call that the "shot regime" .  Did 2 covid, 2 boosters, flu, and 2 shingle.  I'm trying to think back how they all were logistically done.  Of course, that was when the shingle shots cost $$$$.   Feel like a pin cushion - a protected cushion.  That is what the pharmasist said - I'm all done, no more shingle shots ever.  EVER?  That's a long time (I hope) and there's always something else that can materialize.

Good Morning Beakers.....It's Caturday!!!

((tsk))

clynn - That cat hair remover looks like a cheese slicer!  ;D  Aww, reading your comment to tsk about Karen.  I wish she would get up out of that bed, and do PT.
Wow, the car repair approval amount.   :o  Love the pic of the ellie family sleeping.

Peep - Cute pics from TRR!

BrokenLug - Glad to hear that your FL friends are OK.

E4E - I did notice yesterday afternoon, I have a light red rash on my arm where I got the shingle shot.  This morning it is barely visible.

Lani - Congrats to Aly on her upcoming graduation, and her job in Payson!  And, how nice of Shannon to help you all out with shopping and drives to the airport.
Hope all goes well with Mike's MRI on Monday.  :-*

Phyl - Sounds like nice weather for you today.  Love the cat shames.

Puff - I feel like you, a pin cushion here lately, but at least we are protected.

Good Morning Beakers, good morning BL, Lisa, Puff, Phyl & Lani!  CATURDAY!

Lisa, I am happy to hear you did fine with the shingles vaccine, some have had fairly minor reactions. I still have to get the pneumonia shot, will wait until my Dr. appointment later this month.

Puff, sounds like you are fully protected! I will be by the end of the year!

Phyl, memories are wonderful...love the cat shames (the pins would worry me...)! The TP cat would be Harley's favorite! How is Jim doing?

Lani, I am so happy to hear that Aly has a great job right there in Payson! You and Mike have two very loving and successful girls, and both will be close...how very perfect!  Life unfolds and sometimes takes us by surprise, and you have a very happy surprise!  I just wish Mike was feeling better, hope the MRI identifies the issue and it can be fixed!

E4E, so how was your first week of retirement?

Two memories/routines of Ashley that keep making thoughts of her pop into my head.

The Newspaper - Whenever she hears the paper noise she comes for her Ashley time.  Even when I don't have the paper spread out on the table she'll come and sit next to the table, sometimes pawing my leg, and look lovingly at me.  OK I'll stop and give her her paper to lay on.  When she's finally got her quota she leaves.  News and crossword always give/gave Ash first dibbs.

Then there are her fluffy balls and the "junk draw".  I'm pretty sure you all know what the draw is about. . .The collection in the kitchen of the always needy to be handy in the kitchen?  By fluffy balls I mean the little puffs sewn at the back of socketts that keep them from slipping down into your shoes.  (It became very hard to find the socketts - craft store sells just the balls by the bag.  Somewhere in these rooms she has batted them into hiding.)
Anyway, no matter where she is, how quickly you go in/out of the drawer, how super quiet you are - she will hear you open the draw and will come ready to play fluffy ball.  The routine is to throw fluffy out the kitchen and down the stairs.  She learned to fetch fluffy ball like a dog, except for the pathetic meow telling you she has the fluffy and she's coming back.  Get the crunchies ready!  Everytime I open that drawer I think I'm going to hear and see the Ash.  But they are sweet thoughts.

Don't mean to make this sad.  I smile as I think - with tears of course.

P
