AngeloLady, here is a larger smörgäsbörd
Iver--I think I need to make a trip to Decorah just to eat constantly for a few days.

Restaurant changes in the past couple of years, off the top of my head.

McCafferty Dolce Vita has become Twin Springs Supper Club. It has been reviewed as the best restaurant in the state.
https://www.twinspringssupperclub.com/

Ruby's Cafe downtown has become Blazing Star, a vegan restaurant. Ruby's traditional Ronnie's [cinnamon] rolls might be found at HyVee. (Ronnie's was a great cafe decades ago.) Ruby's liver and onions is extinct, sorry. Maybe Blazing Star has a vegan liver substitute?

Convergence Ciderworks is a cider microbrewery downtown with a short yet enticing menu.
https://www.convergencecider.com/

Leslys Taco Trunk (she likes elephants) is a Mexican food trailer. She usually parks in the big lot behind McDonalds, across the highway from Culvers, Thursday-Saturday. A bit pricey, but excellent and large portions.
https://m.facebook.com/LeslysTacoTrunk

The Albatross is a food truck, gourmet burgers and a couple other choices, usually at Dixies Biergarten near Luther, Thursday-Saturday.
https://m.facebook.com/thealbatrossdecorah/

Impact Coffee has moved to a big beautiful location on the main street, formerly JCPenney. All three walk-in coffee shops (Impact, Java John's,. Magpie) have been expanding their food choices.

More coffee: Mill Street Mocha is on Mill Street just off Short Street. Same neighborhood as Family Table and Culvers. Good pulled pork on ciabata. Another drive thru, name I forget, is under construction on Short Street, don't think it will be open. Starbucks is in HyVee.

Kozi Pie Shoppe is right in the middle of downtown. Pies, quiches,  breakfast, lunch. They tend to sell out of stuff, so go early.

The Landing, near Luther next to Pulpit Rock Brewery, is a nice venue with a few vendors including coffee, ice  cream from the Sugar Bowl downtown,  sandwiches, a juicery owned by local NFL star Josey Jewell, and prepackaged snacks and beverages.
https://www.thelandingmarket.com/

301 Eatery with a variety of sandwiches and baked goods, and Beyond the Bar Bakery,  both are downtown and have had stuff that looks tempting, but we have rarely found them open.

High Wide and Handsome had great pizza but odd hours and the worst branding ever. They now are closed.

Lulu and BB's downtown has yummy healthy pet treats and tons of toys and gadgets for your fur babies.

If you stop at Culvers with your dog (anywhere, not only Decorah), ask for a free pupcup.

Reply with what I forgot, or your other food recommendations. Welcome and  bon apetit.

Welcome HM and HD.  It's good to have an active eagle nest back in the tree where so many of us first found it many years ago.

Mom fought to stay here alone and finished raising her last brood with Dad after he disappeared, and she waited here for a new mate.

But time changes everything.  Some eagles tolerate human presence better than others.  I don't think DM2 ever felt as comfortable here as Mom did.  He needed his space, even if it meant giving up the prime fishing spot.

Couldn't agree any more dskyyksd.

HM and HD need to get use to and are just getting use to "the normal hatchery goings on" ON the Hatchery Grounds and normal 2 footer traffic on the bike path.

A minimum of 400 feet from N1 and N2B with best eagle viewing decorum practices on. Optics.

Mom and DM2 moved on.
I kind of like to think this BE wild stuff has happened for thousands of years in this very here valley.
One's privacy is not underrated.

Do You Dear ever get the feeling those 2 footers with shiny glass faces are following you around ?

I am probably cam watching way too much, but so excited to see a new pair!  I have observed that HM & HD seem to tolerate the hatchery traffic pretty well.  The cam operators move the cams around them, and it does not seem to bother them either, from what I have observed.  The only thing that I noticed bothering them, or at least HD is when a lawnmower sounds like it is near.  I have noticed him fly off a few times when one sounds close by.

Think it's High Def in drama with very large mature juvie who just wants a bite of his fish.
I hear another eagle but don't see it yet.  Cam is sticking with N1 action....  ;) :)

10 minutes later....maybe it's Her Majesty instead of High Def!  Now that she's moved to the Y she looks meaner instead of handsomer!  :) ::) :o

eburg, I get confused with who is which also!!  My pics say HD (Hatchery Dad), and I expect the experts will sort it out, or watching the video or rewind.  Anyhow, was fun to see a visitor and to guess who it might be.  No banding, no transmitter, just a hungry juvenile looking to steal a fish. Experts can tell us if it's a juvie from this year or last year.

HD kept the fish and finally finished it on N1.  Bonus -- this eagle is about to molt a big wing feather on the left side.

Lotsa pics, several batches.  Thanks to the cam ops; you are the best!   ;D

Here's the visitor.  It stayed in the pasture branches for quite a while.

HD finished the fish on N1, then back and forth from there to the Y a couple times before flying away upstream.

Experts will tell us which wing feather is the loose one.

This morning HM & HD were in their usual morning spots.  HM perched on the tree to the right of N1, and HD on the branch above N1 among the leaves.  HM flew off to the left after a while, but HD stayed and did some fishing. We saw HD with a fish on the tree to the right of N1, and a beautiful sub-adult perched there also.
