Canadian geese on N1 asserting replacement theory.
Does RRP have a pellet gun?  Seriously!  :(

Owl, the thing that goes bump in the night!  Thanks Lisa and T40 for the pic and video.

From RRP's FB page:

Decorah Eagles

I didn't realize how much I'd missed seeing eagles here until work started kicking into high gear. While we're doubtful we'll get eggs this late - it isn't impossible, but it isn't very likely, either - I love seeing N1 busy again!

May 16, 2022: New male spies leafy branch, grabs it, and delivers it to N1 - https://youtu.be/IL_b9Lt2mJw.

May 16, 2022: More leafy branches from the Y - https://youtu.be/Wyq786YySwc. Why travel when the Nest Depot is right outside your door? The new male tears a branch off the Y and hop flies it right into N1.

May 15, 2022: Goose At N2B-Female BE perched on Y-Male Above-Incredible Portrait Zoom - https://youtu.be/vBytEpAJjcc. Is it just me, or has Decorah seemed unusually busy this year? I'm pulling up the blankets and grabbing the popcorn for a nice snooze on the Confusion Couch! We've got a very nice close-up of the new male eagle here: https://youtu.be/h108jY-WyvE.

May 15, 2022: The new female eagle in Decorah. I love her stately beauty!

May 15, 2022: He's left, she's right! Both eagles have been very busy working on the nest. I loved his branch delivery technique in this video: https://youtu.be/Wyq786YySwc

T40, thanks for the RRP facebook info and the videos.  It has been lively around N1 this year so far, and that's great.  Even if it is not our familiar eagle pair (Mom and DM2) it is wonderful to have eagles to watch.  And fun to see the geese raise a clutch of 6 eggs, too, on N2B.  Outcome not perfect 6 for 6, but Mother Goose gave it her best effort and they fledged 4.

Thanks T40.
Where's an owl when you NEED one!

Can't Eye-D Canadians with those black eyes and uniform attire.  And unlike most Canadians, they aren't wearing numerical hockey jerseys for easier recognition!  :) ;)

eburg ;D ;D

STL - I so agree with your post!  It is so good to watch eagles again, even if they aren't Mom & DM2.

T40 - Thanks for RRP post, and the owl video.

The geese here at Decorah are kind of like on some golf courses and parks -- too many for the territory and persistent about being where THEY want to be.  I will trust the eagles to chase them away when the time is right.

Morning pics from Decorah - Beautiful morning sky, female was perched in her usual spot behind a branch and we got a glimpse of her talon, the beautiful female, and goose on the bluff

Lisa, that talon closeup looks like a really old foot to me. Maybe just dirty instead.

More morning pics of the New BEs.

What are the pretty pink trees in bloom at the road end of the Retention Pond?  Betcha I asked the same question last year!

LOL, I have seen the female with some dirty feet, so it is possible her feet were dirty this morning.

Lisa, Thanks for confirming that it's raindrops on the back of the New BEf and not gnats or flies!  She has been hanging out on the Y all morning.

Great pics, STL!

It has been a good eagle day seeing both around N1!
