July 31, 2022
Tomorrow is August 1 - and I suspect a very early Autumn.
Crickets are already chirping.

Nature felled the trees
Eagles build nests, its what they do.
They will build in a living tree

Our new pair of eagles will lay eggs and we will enjoy them.

I cant explain - but - I just have a gut feeling one or both are Mom's offspring - or perhaps offspring of th north nest.  Dad may be a 5 year old - may be their FIRST brood.  We will be able to tell as they feed #1 hatchling.

Love TRUTH even if you dont like it

Shep, very interesting theory that both of the Hatchery-named eagles, HD and HM could be offspring of Mom and Dad or DM2.  Makes me wonder about the odds of littermates becoming a breeding pair.  That would not be good from a genetics standpoint to have siblings mating.  Without banding we wouldn't know.  Any research on the DNA of breeding pairs of eagles??

The Hatcheries have been on the Y most of the morning, some great closeups from the cam ops.  Thanks, you-pros-you.   ;)

N1 is a bare-stick nest, and N2B has a full crop of heavy grasses.

Early morning pic of HD in N1.
HD was above the cam flew over to the hatchery and back.  He landed in N1 with his breakfish!

Lisa, I saw that flyover from the hatchery area!  Good sized fish that HD brought to N1.  He got spooked while consuming it and took it to the Y, where he gulped it down, then perched farther out for a while.  Just after daylight, HD was wrangling a couple of sticks on the nest. Couldn't tell if the sticks were new, or old ones he was moving around.

T40 - Thanks for posting tulsa's video.

STL - Great pics.  These two have been busy, and staying near the nest the past couple days I have noticed.

Great views, Lisa.  I'm hoping RRP climbs up there with scissors to trim off that one leaf that blocks our view!  Maybe a squirt bottle with fish juice will entice HM or HD to pull it off.  Or we could just wait until fall when it won't be a problem.   ;)

You would think with all this wind today, that there would be leaves left on the tree!

LOL STL, maybe you can submit a request to Amy.

So the eagles are fishing at the hatchery.  That is good news for photographers at the ATF next year.  Now if we can get them to perch on the Maple Tree.

jaspurr - HD flew over to the raceways, and came back with a fish!

So at least one of them is eating from the hatchery.
