Congratulations to John and all at RRP for sighting of D36!  Makes all the efforts worth it, for sure.  Thanks to others for pics and gifs to help us remember.  Smiling faces all around.   :D

That's awesome you laid eyes on D36 John.   8)   ;D
I believe this is the general location that John found D36 with the Yagi and a "ping assist" from Brett on 07/17/22.  :)

Don't know what time of day John found D36 on 7-17-22, but it was sometime pretty close to one of these spots. So pleased to have proof-of-life of this 2-year-old wanderer. Ya done good, kid! 8)

Now that raises an interesting time stamp question I've had for some time now T40 on the Decorah Eagle tracking maps.
The "time" is just posted as 20:09 CST in the image example below ..
- Is that "local" military time in CST .. ?
- Or is the time stamped time in UTC time .. ?
- Adjusted or not adjusted to the current CDT .. ?  ???
- Only the Ping Master General with the tracking software can hook us up with the true time.  8)

In other words I'm surely not sure exactly sure what time the DE pings are time stamped.  :-\

Not really a matter of time after all at this time as John found D36.  8)

Here are all of the pings and waypoints from D27 and D36 that I have downloaded from the RRP Eagle Maps page.

D27 and D36 are the only 2 Decorah Bald Eagles still actively and reliably relaying ping data back from the field I believe.
The last reliable ping from D24 was on 02/18/2021.
His GPS transmitter has been a bit "wonky" from the get go.

He could be perched in Bob A's backyard sipping a cold one laughing his tail feathers off for all we know right now  ;)

D24 is a Male that hatched on March 29 2016 in nest N2B and is the offspring of Mom and Dad.

D27 is a Female that hatched on April 01 2017 in nest N2B and is the offspring of Mom and Dad.

D36 is a Male that hatched on April 08 2020 in nest N2B and is the offspring of Mom and DM2.

BL - Good question about the time stamp. Based on looking at every single one for a few years now, I'm going to guess it's regular old Central Time. RRP, John and Brett are all in Central Time and I'm assuming the receiver for the tracking data is in the Central time zone, too. The pings have always been associated with reasonable "eagle" times for lights out or an early breakfish. However, it's my guess all the ping times are labelled as "Standard" by default and none have been labelled as "Daylight" time or whatever Canadians might call it. So I don't really know what time it is, either. :P

BL, as you know 20.09 is military time for 8:09 PM.  When I looked up the locations for D36 I assumed that he was flying around the farm off 27th in your fourth picture when John spotted D36.  Posting in military time eliminates any confusion about am/pm.

Closer to home this morning, the cam ops panned around the area with closeups of creek, N2B, and N1.  No eagles in view on the rewind, but pics of some scenery.  Looks like the creek is still running really  high and fast.  And a very healthy crop growing on N2B, thanks to fertilizer from the geese!

Lori--your pics made me loooonnng for baby growing eaglets.  I hope we get to watch a batch of them this year, getting to know HM & HF along the way, and I hope it's a healthy nest with no tragedy.

eburg--If we had been able to go to ATF, we would have missed you!!

I've never been and won't be able to go in the future, but my heart is there.

Thanks angelolady. <3
Four inches of rain Saturday night-Sunday morning.  Bike trail is CLOSED.  Upper Iowa out of banks.  Storm damage heaviest in Calmar which is the source of Trout Creek flowing under N1 and past N2B.  I was up and viewing the Hatchery Cam and the North Nest.  At one point I thought lightening had struck the camera at the North nest.  There was a "frozen flash" screen locked up for viewing for quite awhile but somebirdy must have reset it later cuz I watched it in the early morning before sun-up.
Have to check decorahnews.com later.  All above was info from IPR and my buddy Rick.  He's comin' home for RAGBRAI tomorrow so I'll get more details since he'll be meeting up with the usual crowd at Dixie's this afternoon!  :) :)  I'll pass it on.  ;) ;)
