Lisa - Thanks so much for the pictures and for thinking of us left-behinders. ;D You're living the dream for us. Have a great time!

Lani - Thanks, I  am having a great time.

Phyl - I will post some pics when I get home. The internet at the cabin is not so great, and not so great for posting pics.   :(

I know.  ;)

Whee! The ATF attendees are having the face-to-RRP experience, even with the big rain.  We watchers are enjoying the virtual version.

One pic of HD or HM in a tree upstream from N1 about 11:00 this morning.  From the size, I'm guessing HM.  She flew off, then passed by the Y and out of sight.

STL, did you watch the thunder/lightning storm that LISA talked about.  Sounds like one of the eagles in the audio?  Your picture looks like HM is suspended in mid-air.  LOL

Jaspurr, no I didn't watch the storm.  HM was perched on a dead limb that doesn't show up in the pic -- cool, huh?

I did watch a short section of "live at the Hatchery" after the morning rain.  Kind of hard to hear the audio part.

Two ospreys near the Retention Pond this morning, 7:00 to 9:00. One is much darker than the other. Age, sex difference or just the light.

Is there a link to any of the ATF festivities? TIA

STL, the ospreys are relatively new.  I don't remember seeing ospreys on my trips to Decorah in previous years.  Maybe since mom is gone they feel more comfortable hanging out around the hatcher.y  Will RRP be building an Osprey platform?  LOL. I think they are just as much fun to watch as the BE's.  I can envision them hovering over the retention pond and catching fish.  Ospreys and BE's live in close proximity on the Potomac in VA and maybe the new pair of BE's won't mind sharing a little space with them.

Good observations and questions about the ospreys, jaspurr.  There have been ospreys in other years at Decorah, and also at the North nest creek trees.  You could scroll back through the archive years to find forum posts with pics.

I will take your word for it STL.  I just didn't recall anyone talking about ospreys during my trips to the ATF.

When Brian was giving the Hatchery tour on Friday (I think it was Friday) he mentioned the Osprey that's been hanging around.  He said that in the beginning Mom and Dad used to chase any visiting Osprey away from the Hatchery, but that in later years they weren't as vigilant and didn't bother chasing them.

D20, a/k/a Ambassador Decorah, is now 8 years old. I haven't seen him (virtually) for a few years now and was really impressed with how well he was doing. He was pretty frisky and could use his right wing to flap himself up to that arched perch and get back down just as easily. He even hopped into the pool for a drink. I bet he can be rowdy at dinner time!
