Thanks for the ID, Lisa.   I first guessed osprey, but I thought they were more black/gray and white.  Logical place for ospreys, since they eat almost exclusively fish.

I'm sending you a PM -- no rush to answer.   ;)

T40 - I remember being so sad when I read Silent Spring as a young adult. Now, decades later, I would have to replace "alter" with "permanently damage". R. Carson is weeping somewhere with many of us.

Restaurant changes in the past couple of years, off the top of my head.

... ... ...
301 Eatery with a variety of sandwiches and baked goods, and Beyond the Bar Bakery,  both are downtown and have had stuff that looks tempting, but we have rarely found them open.
... ... ...
Correction: 301 Eatery is gone, replaced this month by Water Street Deli. They have a Facebook page.

Two more came to mind:

Stone Hearth Inn,  behind Super 8 and Quality Inn motels, is closed.

Old Armory BBQ has moved to a new location across the bridge from Whippy Dip.

Sounds like ATF plans and eateries are all lined up for this weekend!

Beautiful dawn for the HD and HM pair. One was on N1, I think HD, but no pic. It's probably HD on the Y in the dawn pic.

A few pics fromDecorah since I have been here yesterday - took a ride to see N3, the Osprey eating a fish on a pole near the raceways, a view of HM from the bridge on Siewers spring Rd., and a pic of the full moon from my cabin

LISA, N3 looks so lonely without mom and DM2.  :'( I bet it is strange sitting at the hatchery and not seeing mom in the maple tree.  Remind me what you are calling the raceway.

Early risers at ATF might have seen the full moon setting behind the hatchery pine trees.  Here's a pic if you missed it.  And one of the new pair on one of their favorite overnight branches.

I'm looking for the live-stream events schedule, and will be watching as much as possible.  Please wave if you get on camera!

Hi Lisa.
Many thanks for the photos from Decorah.  Gee, N3 looks so and lonesome w/o  Decorah Mom and DM2 .  Not the same with out  them.  *sigh*  Glad someone got to see the Buck Moon.  ;)  We had clear skies but not in right place. Thank you for the photo.

Take care and SEDS

Welcome HM and HD.  It's good to have an active eagle nest back in the tree where so many of us first found it many years ago.

Mom fought to stay here alone and finished raising her last brood with Dad after he disappeared, and she waited here for a new mate.

But time changes everything.  Some eagles tolerate human presence better than others.  I don't think DM2 ever felt as comfortable here as Mom did.  He needed his space, even if it meant giving up the prime fishing spot.

I think so too.

I've been popping in and out to see what's happening.  But not posting.
So, many thanks to STLbf, T-40, eburg and all.

I am late with this...Welcome HM and HD.  Looking forward to many seasons with this lovely pair. I like the names, too.

Good morning Lisa, thanks for the on-site pics. Decorah Mom's nest looks lonely and yet it dominates the sky.
I wonder where she and DM2 went and why.  :'(  I'll keep the memories of her, Decorah Dad and DM2 and their eaglets close in my heart.
Have a great time with Puff, Oldguy and All!  :)

Lani - Thanks, I  am having a great time.

Phyl - I will post some pics when I get home. The internet at the cabin is not so great, and not so great for posting pics.   :(
