Here are the DNs on their new favorite perch.  Maybe a new favorite tomorrow.   ;D

Hazy at daybreak today.  Quiet morning, no new food on offer.  I liked the "beaking" pic of the two resting eaglets.  Then I looked more closely, and their dark wings reminded me of the large tailfins on cars in the late 1950's.   ;D

Lots of activity for DN15, DNF, and MrN at the Scary Tree today, and it's best on the rewind if you didn't catch it live. Seems that DN16 spent the day near the nest and missed out on feeding.  Scary Tree has some wide limbs that make good eating platforms.  Fish on the morning and noon menu, raccoon in the afternoon.

Cam ops have been remarkable getting such good views from the Scary Tree!  How far are the creek trees from the nest cam?

My pic from 4:00 shows the striped raccoon tail, if you zoom it large.  DN15 is learning valuable lessons about dominance in group eating situations. And it's hard to charge the delivery parent when you're on a tree limb instead of the wide nest!

Thanks for the pics, STL.

Loved seeing them in the scary tree today.

Posted this morning by Cam Op Spish:

FYI - the early morning storm messed up the cams. RRP is working on it, thank you for your patience. As of now we have 1 cam live and no working mics.

That Scary Tree is an all-purpose place.  Good perching branches, limbs wide enough to use as a table for eating, big enough tree to hold several eagles without crowding, and in a location where the cam ops get great views.

Cameras went off during a morning storm in the area, but back on now.  The DNs and the cattle look fine.  In the pics, I think DN16 was perching near the nest and DN15 in the Scary Tree.

Afternoon pics, but no sound, so imaging calling and squeeing if you use the rewind!

About 1:00, the DNs were eating something on the ground, near the bank of the creek.  Looked like they found leftovers.  About 2:00, DN15 visited the nest with a really nice fly-in and landing. Not much to eat there until MrN dropped off a fish, which DN15 ate, then flew to the Perching branch.  Note lots of white mottling in DN15's tail.

By 2:15, DN16 came to the nest, landing on the lower rung of the Ladder Branch after a couple fly-arounds.  Nothing to eat there; late to the party again!

DN16 joined DN15 on the Perching branch.  Nice closeups, thank you camera operators.

Live Chat is ending this evening for the North nest season.  Will the cameras stay turned on, and for how long?  Maybe until "After the Fledge" in July?

On today's chat it said that the audio should be back up and working sometime later this coming week.  The cam will stay on for awhile.  Last year RRP didn't turn it off until mid-August.  We saw one of the fledglings up until a couple of days before then.

Ginger, thanks for the note about the cameras staying on for quite a while.  The sound is still off, so kind of difficult to tell what's going on and who is who.  Amazing how much we rely on sound!

Here's what I think about the Norths so far today.  Not sure where any of them spent the night, but both DNs were on the nest at 7:00. There was a fish involved, and they split it when one stole half.  Both DNs went away, DN16 to the Ladder Branch then Perching Branch.  DN15 ??

About 8:00, DNF brought a large rabbit to the nest.  DN16 came first from the Perching branch, then DN15 landed at the Ladder Branch to share the feast.  The DNs are just so-so about devouring furry mammals, and they aren't starving, so not much fighting.  DN16 stayed on the nest, and DNF returned about 10:00 to clean up, eat some fur, and feed bits to DN16.  DN15 has been at the Scary Tree.

Before 2:00, DN16 joined DN15 at the Scary Tree.  The pic shows them sitting on a high branch, close together.
