If that was DN15 in the tree with the fish then we have two DIVA's this year.  LOL.   The eaglet was acting like DAD was going to take the fish back.  Lots of squeeing and mantling.  I don't blame DAD for wanting the get the heck out of there.

Question, was the flight from the nest to the tree by DN16 considered a fledge or was that just a branch?  The videos I have seen imply that the fledge didn't occur until 16 slipped from the narrow branches on the tree.

Sorry for the confusion.  At the time of the fish-fledge DN15 was watching DN16 mishandle the delivery and hoping to get a steal.  Then he flew off and DN16 blew it!  Since "she" didn't see it apparently, I thought maybe DN15 would get it.
And yes....I think the fledge occurred when dropped off the branch perch and them flew across the pasture and up, up, and away!  :) ;)

Time to put a little spray paint on one of these eaglets so I will know who is on first.   ;)

DN15 is smaller, has a higher pitched voice and is quieter than DN16.  That why I call them he and she, and she's the Diva!  :) ;)

Be careful Eburger, that sounds like a sexist remark to me.  LOL

Jaspurr, I nominate you to put the bright spray paint on one of the DNs so we can tell them apart!  How about painting one foot blue?  ;)

Eburg, I agree that DN15 is smaller, thus smaller voicebox or whatever they use to squee with, and higher pitched calls. Also darker brown, but hard to use the color when they are not together because of shadows, etc.  And likely the male of the DNs this season.

DN16 is lighter brown, larger, likely female, makes lots more noise.  Probably fledged at an older age because of the added weight.

STL, Do I have to climb the tree. :o. I am OK going up but fledging may be a problem.  Blue sounds good.  I'll paint the quiet little one.  ;)

They were both at the nest last night when I checked.  Silence at the nest this morning.  No squeeing.  Maybe some fishing lessons are on Dad's schedule today.  :). Cute little fly catcher?

Lisa, Jaspurr, Everybirdie -- The DNs are doing just great with fledging and finding their way around the nest area and the creek.  The cam ops are wonderful about giving us the best views this year!

The DNs spent the night together on the Perching Branch.  Seems like I remember fledglings doing that last year, too.  15 and 16 made a brief visit to the nest before returning to perch again.  DN15 then decamped for the creek area's Scary tree.

Busy time at the North's valley.  The DNs can fly from the "picnic table" dead log under the nest on the south side all the way to the creek trees in one hop.  They seem to favor DN12's tree, which has large, low-hanging, dead limbs, for easy landings.  About noon, DNF was on that limb while a parade of cattle passed by, right under her feet! One even stopped to rub on the tree trunk.  DN15 landed with DNF right after the parade; he must have been on the ground maybe on the near side of the creek.

Fish delivery from MrN to DN16 at the picnic table about 12:30, followed by DN15. Did both get some of the fish?

Later this afternoon, I got pics of each of them taking off for the DN12's tree branch where they perched together for a while.
