Checking in this evening, thanks to the cam ops for some great tail comparison shots.  Seems like DN16 has the most white markings on the tail feathers.  DN15 seems a shade darker in overall feathers, but that could be a factor of 2 days older.  Will these be the lasting patterns? Wait and see.   :D

Love the artsy shot of the reflection in DN15's eye.

Eeeewww, DNF has raided an owl nest, or hawk nest, again this year same as last year.

STL:(  Yea a hawklet this morning, and then this afternoon some young duckling or something of that sort.  It had web feet.

Lisa, thanks for the ID on the hawklet.  Last year, the eagles cleaned out a whole nest, reported by RRP and probably you!  Ducklings tend to be on the menu this time of year also.  Sigh.

Found the waterfowl you mentioned on the rewind.  From the size and long legs and big feet, I'm gonna say a gosling.  Anyhow, DNF let 15 and 16 figure out how to get into it.  Interesting if you like that sort of thing, and I do.   :o

About 3:30, MrN brought a large fish that he captured from the creek, on the rewind. It took him a long fly-in to get it to the nest. Worth the watching.

Think of the different kinds of meat the eagles had, just today!  And not a veggie to be seen.   ;D

Family photo from early this morning.   Another large fish from MrN for the DNs' breakfast.  MrN on watch from the Yonder Tree.

Colorful sunrise at the North valley.  DNs picking at nest-bits and sitting around waiting for something to happen besides rain.

The DNs tested their wings about 10:00 this morning.  DN16 stretches and moves them up and down tentatively.  DN15 is flapping while stomping and hopping with a real demonstration of rhythm.

In the 3:00 closeup, I was looking for clear differences in their faces.  Other than the shade lighter brown feathers for DN16, I didn't see much.  Anyone with details to tell them apart?

Reposting from February. . .

                                               AFTER  THE  FLEDGE  2022

It's time to return to Decorah.  Now if we only knew all the eagles' plans.  It is almost certain that North Nest arrangements are firmly decided.  The wait for the egg (s) has started.  But, Mom and DM2 are playing a waiting game.  I'm sure local boots on the ground will give us any updates once they make the big decision.  Last report from Amy even hinted at a new, unknown location.  Patience is a virtue is our mantra for now.

Main dates of our get together for 2022 are July 14 to July 16.  Extra days can be added at separate rates before or after the scheduled dates above.

Meanwhile I do have the information for the local available accommodations.  As usual I have put them on hold for the group.  Reservations are to be done through me.  You will have to submit your credit card information; rooms will be held in your name but no payment will be required until July.   If you determine you cannot attend, there is no charge to cancel if you do so by the cut off date (date given once your information is recorded).  Prices listed do not include taxes.

Unfortunately, because of a  pre-planned large wedding, pricing at the Fairfield on Friday and Saturday is up steeply.  Pricing at the other properties did remain more typical.  This little town does have lot going on during the summer.  It is a nice town to enjoy group activities.  Please, don't delay.  If you want to join our celebration contact me ASAP.  Be aware - after the deadlines listed availability and prices cannot be guaranteed.

ATF will be here before we know it!!

Daylight finds DN15 more out on the edge of the rails than yesterday. One pic very early AM, another close to 1:00.  They will be on the patio section soon.  MrN brought cowghetti, which didn't elicit mantling.  Maybe they weren't really hungry at 9:30.

Around 8:25 DN15 defended the nest from a squirrel.  This is so cute.  Video by GABear.
