Only within the moment of time represented by the present century has one species -- man -- acquired significant power to alter the nature of the world.

T40, thanks for sharing Glen Loyd's video of little DN15.  Very sweet.

Couple more feeding pics today, and a new rail branch.  Amazing how fast chicks learn that when you make noise you get food!

DN16 is still in the shell.

Couple pics from evening.

Question about these small fish -- Are they trout fingerlings that get stocked into this creek in spring?  Or natural young fish that hatched during winter?  Or a small species of fish, not trout at all?  Please help all you fish experts out there.    ???

Lisa, gonna be hard to tell these babies apart!

The parents were chattering and watching as if an intruder was present at or under the nest this morning around 9:00. MrN perched above the nest and dive-bombed at one point, then flapped to a Perch Branch to inspect the lower level. No idea what the commotion was about.  Maybe the Explore site will have more info.

DNF has been feeding fish from plentiful supply at the nest. Seems like bonking has already begun. Bless 'em all!

STL, I saw the Mod on Explore post that a squirrel was under the nest.  ;D

Those two are definitely going to be hard to tell apart!

Great pics!

Peep, precious except for the bonking!  Last year, it seemed the parents fed the older, bolder chick first, and that eliminated most of the bonking. We'll see if they use the same strategy with this brood.

Lisa, thanks for the info from Explore about the squirrel from earlier this morning.
