Fish drop at the nest by DNF about 7:00 this morning.  DN15 was there a second before, and dived on the fish and immediately flew away as DN16 came onto the nest from the right side.

10:00 found one of the DNs in the Twiggy Tree.  On rewind I suspect it is DN15, and seemed to be eating something off the branch, maybe the fish leftovers.

For just moments, one of the DNs (I think 15) was on the ground, maybe flapping after something alive.  Didn't see it fly away.
By 12:30, one of the DNs was perched in the Scary Tree.  At posting time nearly 3:00 PM, crows are making a racket from a distance. No BEs in view.

DN15 has been on the Yonder snag since about 6:30 PM. Still calling for food, too.

I really appreciate your pics here, STL! DN15 watching and waiting...hope there's some reward in the end!

Storming tonight.  Lots of wind at first and then rain.  Lots of lightning throughout.

Ginger, thanks for the night pic!  It's still raining at DNN today at 11:00 AM.

Looks like the DNs spent the night on the Perching Branch.  DN15 flew to creek trees around 8 AM while DN16 went to the Yonder for quite a while.  I believe DN15 was in the Skeleton Tree at 10:00, but didn't hear calling, so hard to tell because it is so rainy.

STL -- When 15 flew to the creek trees, he flew off because there was a very loud crashing noise to his left.  Sounded like a tree fell.  Cam found him later perched on the Scary Tree and when he flew off from there he went directly to the Skeleton Tree at 10:00 as you noted.

Here's a video I recorded.  About the first 14 minutes of it is the nighttime storm.  The loud crash and DN15's flyoff happens at 18:52.  My notes contain a few other timestamps.

Ginger, thanks for the video!  I heard the crashing that scared off DN15 also, but it sounded like sheet metal to me.

Nice time on rewind about 2:00 this afternoon to watch DN16 preening, calling, rousing, balancing on the Yonder Snag.  She moved to the nest, then the top area of the Perching Branch before flying off.  I think that's her soaring about 2:50.

On re-listening to the crash, I agree that it was a branch and not metal banging.  The microphones are really sensitive and it must have been close by.  Thankfully not the nest.

Good soaring on the rewind around 3:00 and more.  One then two eagles, likely the DNs.  DN15 is on the Ladder Branch now (3:45 PM) calling and preening away, and I can hear branches falling.  Wonder if the farmer is clearing things.  Watch and learn.
