Yesterday both 15 and 16 spent some extended time at the stream.  What was notable is that around 6:15, DN16 vomited and it was quite a lot of food that came up.  She vomited again around 6:49 but this seemed to be the remnants and was much more watery.  It was concerning because it's so unusual to see an eagle vomit.  She spent quite a bit of time just kind of standing around but did take some drinks.  Then 15 came along and picked at it on the ground but didn't really eat it. Sometime later 16 was on Yonder Branch and seemed to be fine.  Both spent the night on the Love Tree and seemed normal.

Today, both seem fine, so probably nothing to worry about.  i sure do wonder what it was that 16 ate.

Ginger, thanks for the report on DN16. I was away all day, so missed all the cameras.  On the good side, I was up close and personal with a Great white heron, and a great blue heron at a relative's lake, and we flushed a juvenile BE from the road side on the way over. All three of those birds are seriously big!

Back on watch today and things for the Norths seem quiet.  At about 6:30 AM, a large, black, barking dog ran along the creek bank and an adult BE flew away from the Brush Pile Tree, landing in the Twiggy Tree, staying quite a while.  Couldn't tell from the rewind if it was DNF or a sub-adult.

A chipmunk visited the lower portion of the nest early this morning while all the eagles were elsewhere. On rewind, you can see blurry views of the DNs in creek trees.  It's the leaves in the way, not the cam ops fault!  By 11:30, DN15 flew to the Yonder snag, followed by DN16 to the Perching Branch. Both appear to be OK and were calling.  A buzzing sound could be heard in the distance, like a weedeater or power saw, and both DNs flew away. They returned after a short while, one on the Ladder Branch and one on the Perching Branch, still calling at noon.

About 3:00 this afternoon, DN16 took off from a Perching Branch and went soaring, then out of sight.  Not in view at 5:00.  I'm hearing DN15 calling but he's not in view either.  Could this be a dispersal day, or just a fly-around afternoon?

Nope, not dispersal yesterday.  This morning, MrN (I think) brought a good sized fish to the nest about 6:30.  DN16 flew in immediately from the creek area and consumed it.  From coloring and call sounds, I'm saying DN16.  So now is DN15 in the area?  He did not come to the nest for the fish.  There are juvenile eagles perching in creek trees as the cam ops pan back and forth.  I can't tell which ones without calling sounds or seeing them together.  Later maybe.

Early morning today, both DNs in the Twiggy Tree for a while, then to the Skeleton Tree south (to the right as we look) of the Twiggy.  At about 11:00, there was a tractor moving across the pasture on this side of the creek. DN15 came to the Ladder Branch, nest, then perched on the Perch Branch.  A person and dog was near the creek. DN15 flew away to the north (left in the pic).  By noon, DN15 was back in the Scary Tree, calling.  Haven't seen DN16 since early.

DN15 has been in several creek trees, on the ground, and at the nest between 1:00 and 3:30 today.  No food on view, but it's early afternoon!

Thanks, nanimal, I will miss them, too.  Every pic I take, I think could be the last!  I'm haappy when they reappear, and might as well post the pics anyhow.

Here's DN16 drying off on my  first peek today almost 4:00.  DN15 is lower down in the same tree.  Scary Tree?

About 6:00 this morning, DN15 came to the Yonder Tree, while DNF was perched at the Brush Pile Tree.  DN16 can be heard but not seen.
The cam ops found a hairy woodpecker working on a small branch near the nest, about 8:00.

Fish drop at the nest by DNF at 1:30.  DN15 followed her, grabbed the fish and flew toward the Love Branches [no pic].  DN16 made it to the Yonder snag and didn't try for the fish.  After a bit, she flew to the creek bank.  Guessing that she had a bath because next sighting is both DNs in the Scary Tree (I think), DN16 drying her feathers.  See next set of pics.

DN16 must have had a bath in the creek. She is pretty wet when the cam ops find her landed on the same tree as DN15, at about 3:30 PM.  Don't know the name of the tree where they are perched. Not the Scary Tree, not the Brush Pile Tree.  See rewind and help me out.

The DNs perched for a while at daybreak, calling, on the Perching Branch.  Misty, foggy, typical of this area in early August.

Yesterday a hairy woodpecker, today a Downy male woodpecker, in branches around the nest.  This little bird can go upside down as easily as rightside up!  Check out the rewind from about 8:00 AM.

The DNs perched in creek trees during the morning. Hard to see because of leaves and light.  DN15 is calling from the Yonder snag right at noon.

Pics from this afternoon, hard to say which DN, not enough calling to tell them apart.  When the calls are audible, there's no eagle visible!
