Early morning cam ops found both DNs in the Brush Pile Tree, one upper left and the other center right.  Early lunch on the nest -- leftover raccoon, garnished with long pheasant feathers.

Around noon, an adult or sub-adult eagle perched at the Scary Tree. The more I watched, the more I'm inclined to say sub-adult, looking rough from the insects that are pretty bad this summer.  DN15 seemed to object to the older eagle, hollering then approaching in an aggressive manner.  Could be wrong, and DN15 was just calling for food that wasn't there.

Thanks, Jaspurr, and the same to you!

One of the DNs was picking at raccoon carcass on the nest early morning, then flew to the Brush Pile Tree, then to DN12's Tree.  I think DN16, but no proof unless I see them together. And Holy Cow, both DNs are in what I called DN12's Tree -- only I'm not sure that's the right tree name. You can barely see them because of the light. Watch for movement on the rewind.

About 7:00, they flew to the Perching Branch, then DN16 back on the nest, no new food, and DN15 flew to a very branchy dead tree on the South end of the creek.  See orange arrow in pic, next post.

Here's the tree marked by an orange arrow, in the distance.  And a closer pic of DN15 perched here.  Will search for the name of this tree.

Good job finding the mystery tree location, STL.  It doesn't have a name -- probably because we've almost never seen any eagles perch there.

Sound came back on at 11:24 a.m.  Yay!!!

Well, Ginger, let's think of a good name!  Or does RRP have to do that?

Good to have the sound back on.  Thank you RRP.

How about "Super-branchy Tree"  or "Twiggy Tree" for the unnamed one? See pic from 11:00 today for a good view.

Cam ops panning got really good view of one of the DNs soaring about 11-15AM.  Seemed to be an all dark feathered bird but couldn't tell which.

DNF brought a fish to the nest at noon, in the rain.  DN15 got most of it, then DN16 jumped on top and stole the rest.

Yes, Lisa, good to see the young ones soaring.  Wonder if they will catch prey and bring it to the nest before they disperse?  They eat food on the ground, but it looks like prey and leftovers from DNF and MrN.  I haven't seen the DNs hunting or fishing yet.  Or playing in the water.  Maybe this week if it gets really hot.

Lisa, I agree with you about the light in this part of Iowa.  Makes for many very special pics.

The DNs seem to be listening to farm machinery chugging nearby. Maybe cutting more hay today.  The noise has not spooked them so far.

That is good they are not spooked by the equipment.

DN15 visited the nest this afternoon around 3:30.  Nothing there to eat.  Closeups from the Ladder Branch.  Both DNs perching in the Scary tree at 5:30.
