Love the sweet look-back GIFS, Lori! Thank you!

Congratulations to DN16 on fledging!

Not the beautiful soaring takeoff we all hoped for, but after a bumbling start, there was flight, and landings in the area under the nest.  Even both DNs together on a deadfall to the south of the nest.  DNF came to the nest to lure DN16 to return.  Hasn't happened yet, but maybe this afternoon.  It's all way better on the rewind.

The take off from the nest to the tree looked pretty good to me.  DN16 pushed off, spread the wings, got good height and performed a controlled landing in the tree.  DN15 did a lot of bumbling at the top of the tree that he landed in after his perfect take off.  Those flimsy branches are hard for even a seasoned flyer like mom and dad to land in.  Good job DN16.  Beautiful day in Decorah for flying.  Have fun DN15 and DN16.

The DNs are having a picnic this afternoon in the area to the south of the nest tree.  MrN brought a fish or dug one up from the nest, along with other nestovers, and delivered something edible.  The grass is pretty long, but you can see them moving on the rewind, and perching on the deadfall branches and logs.  What will happen next?  Stay tuned.

Love it when they walk in the grass STL.  I can still remember how funny it was to watch DN14? land short of the nest last year.  His head looked like a periscope popping up and down in the grass while he was plowing across the field.

Good Morning,

I can't see him but I can sure hear him.  LOL. Sounds like he is hungry, lost or maybe both?

Look at all those bugs.

The fish fledged before finishing.  Figured DN15 would be on the ground catching it, but I think it's just lying there.  Maybe DN16 will realize she's still hungry.  :)

Fish fledged around 10:12 am CDT

Eburg, I haven't caught up with the fish-fledge-nest action yet.  Here are some pics from earlier in the morning at the creek.

DNF, MrN, and DN15 were together in the Scary tree for a short while around 5:30 AM, then the parents flew to the Brush Pile tree (I think), where DN15 also went later, and at 9:30 AM, while DN16 was on the bank of the creek.  I'm pretty  sure the one in the trees was DN15 because a better flyer, and departed for the Yonder tree near the nest by 10:00.
