Rain early this morning, and more gnats-flies-pesky bugs. The parents are perching high in the creek trees, maybe fewer bugs there far from the nest.  Deer in the pasture.

Thanks to the cam ops, a good pic of one of the dead creek trees, I think the Scary Tree.  Yes or No?

Very quick fish drop at 7:30 AM by MrN.  And closeup of DN16, I think, in the rain.

Did someone branch?

Yes, indeedy, someone branched!  First time at about 8:00 AM, and DN15 has been on and off the Ladder Branch several times.

But wait, there's more!  About 1:15, DN15 flapped once and went from the porch to the Perching Tree! And back after a few minutes.  I'd say that's a fledge, but what does RRP say?

It looked like DN16 would get onto the porch, but not yet. See pic from about 11:00.

Two fish drops, one about 12:45 and one about 1:30.

Yay for DN15! Thanks eburg and STL for your replies and pics. I wrote the question and then was gone for hours. Nice to see there was a fledge (maybe!).

When 15 flew to the Left-Side Perch it's not a fledge because it's a branch of the nest tree.

Technically a Branch and .. a get the heck away from the gnats walk about branch ..

These two are going to RRP "technically" Fledge shortly _ this makes my Iowa fly free eagle heart soar.  :)   8)

Hmmph!  Ginger, you are right that DN15 flapped to a branch of the nest tree, and not a nearby tree.  So it was a branching and not a fledge.  I looked at my map of the North nest area with the labels to confirm what you already knew.  Sigh.   ???

Early morning today, DN15 went to the Perch Branch and flew back to the nest a couple of times.  DNF dropped off a fish at 9:30 and DN15 claimed it.  DN16 got some by stealing.  Later, DN16 was all wings stretched out, but didn't fly. To be continued . . .

More action from the Norths.

DN16 walked onto the porch about 11:30 AM, and stayed for a few minutes. I think this is the first time, age 73 days, 20 hours.

When MrN brought a fish, both DNs came rushing. DN16 got most of this one. Fly-ins are worth finding on the rewind, and thanks to the cam ops for showing them.  Nice views of the adults in creek trees, too.  And great closeups of DN15 on the Ladder Branch.

Puff--yeah, might have been encouraged by the gnats, but the way he took off it looked like he had fishin' on his mind! :) ;)
