Lisa, that was a very large hunk of red meat that DNF ate this morning.  The chatters didn't identify it either.  Looks too substantial to be an afterbirth, and it's not the right season for cattle to be giving birth, or anything else.  So, mystery meat.  Somebody wouldn't be feeding the eagles would they?  There's no shortage of prey with the creek and all.  Maybe the experts on Explore will have more info.

STL -  Another beautiful sunrise pic!

I am not even going to take a guess at what that was that DNF was enjoying!

Ginger is an Explore Decorah North chatter, so she would know now best what the Explore chatters thought it might have been.   :)

On Explore we decided it was mystery meat (and that's also what RRP said).  I wondered if it was deer.  I noticed (as did another chatter) a few white hairs and that's one thing that made me think of deer as did the fact that lack of bones must mean it was a large animal.

Nothing like mystery meat to get us imagining!  Coyotes can kill deer, or possibly a road kill.  We may never know.
Hope the deep cold in Iowa goes on its way soon.  Not much to take pics of today.  Yesterday my Internet was down all day. Annoying.
Keep warm, y'all.

Red squirrel seems to like the Norths' nest. Brave little fellow.

Thanks, Lisa.  On the rewind, it sits with its front paws rolled in as if it was wishing for warm mittens.  A few little birds in the grasses, also, but no pics.

Luv the squirrel. It's taking an awful chance with it's life.   Thanks for capture.

Phyl, you are right, the squirrels often become a meal instead of a visitor!'

This morning, the Norths perched together in a creek tree, then made a short nest visit at about 9:00. DNF moved one stick then they both flew off.

Lisa, I love the moon pics almost as much as sunrises!
There was a young eagle visitor perched in a creek tree early this morning.
And on the chat, Blossem Holland has a great video link of a red squirrel at the nest.
