Appreciate the reap of Giving Tuesday events.

Couple pics of deer below the nest area around 3:30 this afternoon.  No eagle pics from me -- been away most of today.

STL -- You picked a good day to be away from the cam because there sure wasn't much going on.  No eagles seen except early morning.  DNF and Mr. N. started out the night on the Love Tree, but Mr. flew off to the left just before midnight.  It was cold and VERY windy so perhaps he wanted to spend the rest of the night in a more sheltered spot.  He made a quick visit to the nest in the morning and then he and DNF flew off.

I also saw a sweet little Black Capped Chickadee hanging upside down eating seeds at around 8:30 a.m.

Great action pic of North and cute blk cap Chickadee
Thank you .
I'm still learning ID.  Corrections are welcomed.  ;)

Phyl, DNF is the eagle at the nest today since about 11:00 and still there at 3:00.  Cam ops got some great closeups -- see pics below.  Deer visited early morning.
Some ways to tell DNF and MrN apart:
* DNF is much larger overall.
* DNF has dark feather spines and a "part" at the center back of her head, and some dark feather spines at her eyes.
* MrN has all-over whiter feathers on his head, except for the bump near the join of his mouth and eye on the right side. It is from an injury several years ago.  I will find a good profile of MrN and post it next.
* DNF is more vocal than MrN.

Here's a good view of MrN and the bump under his right eye, from NOV 8th.
And a comparison view of DNF from NOV 9th.

DNF's eyeballs have lots of dark marks scattered across the yellow. That might not be helpful because it looks like MrN does also.  Scroll down below the live feed and the weather report to see description and RRP's ID pics in the section "About the North Eagles."

Thanks. I did notice  the darks are common to both Norths.
I can tell I'm going to have 'stuff' taped to the wall around my pc.   ;D

Decorah North Eagles

Looks lika a sub- adult in the tree with Mr. North---I'm guessing ' Mr. N'  with whiter helmet since this is at a distance and  even with STB's  ID chart .
I do know with many avians the 'kids' from the last season may remain the following season. We keep nesting boxes for our local Eastern Bluebirds, 22 seasons now,
and the kids often 'return' /remain to help with the next season's offspring. But I'm still learning about this nest. Soooooo.

Both of the perching eagles this morning are sub-adults. The one with more white is older, but not one of the North breeding pair.
I haven't seen MrN or DNF so far today, but just a fast scan of the rewind.

Here's a chart/pic of bald eagle head shots at various ages, to help with the sub-adults.

Thank you. I'd lost the head short plumeage progression chart.
Never thought to go to  'Avianreport.com'
Sometimes the darkness on feathers,  looks like dirt.  :(
Well got them printed out .

But wait!  It gets better!  At 1:00 there were two sub-adults in the Brush Pile Tree.  At 2:00 there were four of them!  Awesome!   ;D
