Not much activity around the North nest this New Year's Day.  Just really cold (7 degrees), windy, and snowy.

DNF spent the night on a Love branch. Nice wing stretching as the light came up. Another golden sunrise and some distant soaring on the rewind. If you're quick, watch the red squirrel visiting the nest early this AM.

A beautiful eagle pair! Part of me would like to think at least one of them is Mom and Dad Decorah's offspring!  :D

Just curious, when is RRP likely to start new topics for 2022 here in the Forum?

Happy Belated New Year Everyone ! Wishing y'all only the best in 2022.

Please excuse me...my internet has been sporatic lately.

STL 1. many thanks for the lovely captures of the DN eagles. 2. Not much of an idea on  when new topics begin, sometime in January?.  I think Amy first purges last years  and it's archives. Before she archives 2020  with that I believe she purges all the images and only keeps the texts for archiving.  Maybe something like that  :-\

Phyl, we'll see about the archives and new places to post our pics! Meanwhile, the action is heating up for the Norths. They are much more attentive to each other than just a month ago.

DNF brought something yummy to eat to the nest at around 8:26 a.m.  I have no idea what it is although it must be from a large animal because I don't see any bones.

Lisa, that was a very large hunk of red meat that DNF ate this morning.  The chatters didn't identify it either.  Looks too substantial to be an afterbirth, and it's not the right season for cattle to be giving birth, or anything else.  So, mystery meat.  Somebody wouldn't be feeding the eagles would they?  There's no shortage of prey with the creek and all.  Maybe the experts on Explore will have more info.

STL  t he 'mystery' meat DNF is chowing down...could it be a pet?  I mean shutter to think. Or part of a larger animal that was killed by another predator?
I didn't know eagles ate handouts. But they do scavage.Soooo.
