National Arboretum Eagles, Washington, DC
« on: January 04, 2022, 02:20:30 PM »

National Arboretum DC Eagle Cam
This Male is named The President

They call the new female LOTUS
She chased off our Lady
January  2022

HISTORY
I am hoping for eggs in 2022
There were no eggs in season 2019, 2020 or 2021
There has been several females fighting for this nest.
The 2022 female has brown on her tail, indicating she is young

A new, young female bald eagle arrived in spring 2021 and replaced the previous female bird named the First Lady.

SNOW!
January 3, 2022
I didnt see the eagles all day long until 5 pm
then they both showed up - one in nest - BRIEFLY! - one up high on branch
It was absolutely a beautiful snow .....  because I didnt have to SHOVEL it!

January 4, 2022
Both spent last night next to each other on their branch in the distance.
The night before they were in different trees
Around 7 am or so they both sailed to the nest tree
Both looked for awhile at all the snow filling the beautiful nest then flew away

Around noon we had a little visitor

This female is young - maybe a 5/6 year old.

Lotus is hanging around the nest more n more, standing in it, laying in it.

I know these pics look alike but they were taken 5 minutes apart

That has been their overnite roost for YEARS
The President and LOTUS looking out over DC
The framed dark one is the first First Lady LOTUS replaced

Continuing nest prep for egg
Feb 14, 2022  Valentine's Day
Today white feathers in nest
Her behavior makes me think egg very soon.
LOTS of mating - often

Last year I watched the takeover of this nest by 'Streak' who they now call LOTUS
