Hey Shep, Seems that the visiting falcons have moved on.  Lots of eagles gathering in the trees, and I believe that the tundra swans have arrived. Hard to tell for sure in the long-distance view this morning.

Shep, I was wrong about the banded peregrine moving on!! It was back on the nest box and the ledge for a short visit this morning, starting at about 9:00.  Black 06 over Red D.  That's the same bird we saw on Nov.11, and someone provided the identity from 2015 or 2016.

At time of this posting, there's an adult BE perched in the bluff trees.

11 am - UNbanded falcon sits on cam

Zoey liked to sit on that cam - but I thot she'd left some weeks back.  Could this be Ardy's mate maybe?   They REALLY like the nestbox

Shep & Lori -- The rusty-feathered peregrine seems to be unbanded.  Zoey, the mate for Newman this past season, was rusty and not banded. How common is the rusty feathered-ness?

I posted pics of Ardy, the banded male, yesterday.

Fun to have visitors, and who knows what will happen.

The banded male peregrine, 06-D, Ardy, was back for a visit to the ledge under the nest box, this morning around 11AM.  Just before flying off, he stood up to show the bands.  In the light, he looked very blue.   Handsome.

Yes Ardy is a beauty and clearly likes our nestbox location.  If he winters here he'll chase Newman off.

T40 I liked your video!  Well done.

Barges on the Mississippi River hauling their goods downstream before the river freezes.  Now its up to trains and our faithful treasures, our truckers - who bring goods to the store where we shop.  THANK YOU!

Here you see 2 separate barges
One going thru the lock in southern MN while another waits

3.30 pm
Ardy is back.  He appears to have claimed this spot!

Just watched tundra swans flying downriver.  Way downriver!!  Someday John Howe's gonna git us a camera and we'll probably watch them all the way to St. Louis!!  :) ;) 8) ::)
