Migrating flock of Cedar Waxwings this morning; what beauties they are.

Clear, calm day at GSB, great reflections in the water, lots of eagles perching in trees on the island opposite the nest (no pic).

Thanks for the panning views, cam ops!  Never noticed the spillway before so here's a pic.  People were walking nearby.

I LOVE them!
So glad you got em.
Years ago I lived with a crabapple tree out  my window.
In the spring they'd eat the apples and get drunk and fly funny, lose their ballance

Shep, a funny sight for sure. I have read that waxwings will eat fermented fruit and get loopy.  Other birds probably do the same.

Sunrise on NOV 1 pretty here at GSB area.  At the Flyway cam site, there was a huge flock of birds at sunup, see pic there.

Could be a peregrine, or a hawk, hard to tell from so far away and all the branches.  Later this afternoon, an adult BE was in about the same spot.

Really like current view close in at the locks.  Easier to grasp water level being low on the lock gates than trying to guess the waterline on the islands or banks.  Don't think I've seen that lower painted board on the gate before.
Use the talents you possess: for the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except the best.

Mid-afternoon at the nest box bluff, there's an adult BE perching.

So they do, Shep!  Not many condors at GSB, but plenty of eagles!

Fishing seems popular near the locks today. What's biting?

Does someone know what the dark-shaped dome is on the island where many eagles are perching in the trees?  Seems to be an animal home of some kind.

Beautiful day at GSB and the locks.

Whenever I see the birds floating on current heading south, or flying that direction, I think of the Fats Domino song, "I'm Goin' to New Orleans."

Thanks to Shep for posting the pics from Explore!  Here are several more from me.  Newman and Zoey are not banded, so it's not them.  Someone can look up the number and tell us who.

Ginger and Shep, What great info on the banded bird today!  The record shows that the bird's parents are known, also.  And someone is mentioned as breeder.  Does that indicate that this bird was raised in captivity and released, or on a building-monitored nest?  Banded in 2015, so this bird is 6 years old. Awesome.
