These eagles seem to approach and move around their young even more cautiously than M&D... almost tenderly. Maybe because the eucalyptus' leaves' layer is a bit slippery.

With regard to a study including this nest, Birdlife point out they had not observed siblicide (cainism) in those nests, yet the wording ≪... may exhibit "obligate...≫ is slightly blurred. Some species are strong siblicists (like the Golden Eagle and Verreaux Eagle of the Aquila genus), while others are facultative or even weak siblicists, like the Bald Eagle of the Haliaeetus genus. I have found inconclusive info on the WBSE (Haliaeetus), while gotten concerned by what looks like slightly more serious than a pecking-order fight between these two. Wait and see...

Hi Winged! I've been watching & snipping at the nest since 2011 & they do bonk. For me it is like all of the other nests when the kids bonk each other. They don't peck to the death but the do peck.

Well, let's hope the best. During kung-fu, I already saw that little wing snapped... Mini was protesting bitterly while it lasted.

On the other hand, y'day afternoon Mini was employing a new tactic to dive and hide before Maxi would hit... successfully.
