OMG I am so sad!!! Looks like they had intruders. 3 or 4 injured adults & baby is alone in the nest. 2 adult sea E's have been found injured on the ground.

So sorry to hear this news, MpMom.  Here is a FB post from about an hour ago.

Last update for tonight - no-one will be monitoring this page overnight (Australian time) so there may not ne replies to your questions until the morning.

Following an intruder at the nest this afternoon (see videos I posted earlier) both parents have not been on the nest and unfortunately SE-19 is alone.

A small rescue team found 2 adult sea-eagles on the ground - one (Dad) was rescued & is at the vet - he has an injury to the breastbone area, has had an antibiotic shot and will be more fully examined in the morning.
The other bird, assumed (but not confirmed) to be Lady couldn't be caught depsite best efforts. A waxing moon makes it very dark for a sea-eagle to fly & for any rescue. The team will go back in the morning to see what they can do.

You're welcome, MP.  Yes, it's just awful.  I hope it's possible for SE19 to survive and also the unhatched egg.  And, of course that Lady and Dad will be ok.  That SE19 is just the cutest.

It is 2:30 a.m. in sydney now.
They have to wait until sunrise to further observe.
Thoughts and prayers are with them all.
They too have exceptional mods that maintain a 24/7 chat.
Even thru all of this, they are still maintaining their nest chat and fb 24/7 and answering all questions and concerns.

The eagle lovers community is great....no matter where in the world they are. <3

Only my opinion, I'm no expert...

I saw all the movments in Sydneys morning.
I think, it was the Lady and the intruder, who were around the nest and were mating.
The intruder had won the battle, his prize was the Lady...

They knew, their is no chance for SE19 and not for the second egg.
At 6am they had a temp around 48'F, that is too less over the whole night alone in the nest.
So they WBSEs only flew around and did not jump onto the nest...

Very bad story, but it's natur...  :( :(

7.45am nest: No move on the nest, the cam had zoomed...  :( :'(

Damn! I had such high hopes for Lady and Dad this time out. Sounds like Lady (I'd take gr8t's word as gospel, s/he started at Decorah) defended her nest and kicked SE butt. I'm sorry the female was lost because there are no WBSEs to spare. I don't know if WBSEs double clutch, but we're about to find out.

This is so heartbreaking. SE19 has siblings waiting for it and Mum will be sure to stretch her wings around that cutie. Thanks to everyone for breaking the news to us and keeping us informed.

Afternoon in Sydney:

Parent was on the branch, jumped down to the nest and looked several times down to the egg and to SE19.
As if Mom or Dad are wondering, why no move is on the nest.
Then she/he lay down on the bowl...
It is so heartbreaking...  :'(
