MpMom and pera, thanks for all your great s'caps and vids! Lady and SE17 show some great-looking bonding moments ... so many wonderful "awww" moments that we are so lucky to get to see thanks to the "live cam gang" and people like you helping to bring those moments here... and I loved hearing about Lady doing her "Mama Bear" nest defense! You go, girl!!!
If this is Lady's first year as a "Mom" then she is passing with flying colors - very beautiful flying colors they are, too!
I hope all this seemingly excellent parenting and care by both Dad and Lady is a sign of a turn in a more positive direction for a longer-term success for SE17 and this nesting pair than we have witnessed in many previous seasons here ... before Lady. Of course the Eagles have no control over the environmental issues that might be affecting nesting success - they can't control the rain or weather at all of course, nor the pathogens that may cause fungal, viral, or bacterial illnesses, but hopefully their success in the other areas will help their eaglets develop more healthy immune systems, and grow and mature faster and better, and possibly give them more of an advantage at resisting illness. Can you tell that I am trying to talk myself into believing that Dad and Lady will see SE17 grow to a successful fledge, and that SE17 will be seen taking a more normal post-fledge path, and for longer, than has so often been the case with the WBSE here? My heart goes out to them when they go through the difficult times, and I wish the previous Mum here had been able to stay healthy and continue here with Dad, as well as some of their offspring in the past years who didn't make it for a number of varied reasons. She, and they, are missed.
But now we watch and learn about this WBSE Family - Dad and Lady and SE17 - and I hope and hope for all good WBS-Eagley things for all 3 of them this year, and in the years to come!!
