STL -- There were several intruders involved.  At about 10:48 DNF flew off the Ladder Branch and chased a subadult around the pasture. She eventually landed on the Love Tree and then the cam found a subadult perched on the Scary Tree. DNF stayed on the Love Tree for quite awhile, vocalizing. Eventually Mr. North arrived. The cam first showed him standing on the Scary Tree in the same spot where the subadult had been perched earlier. Mr. North was vocalizing. The cam then switched location and just as it zoomed out I saw that there were two subadults perched on a branch to his left and both immediately flew off.

YW, Lisa.

I forgot to post this pic earlier.  When Mr. N. arrived at the nest at around 8:11 this morning he appeared to be searching the nest for something but I couldn't see anything.  Then our dear cam op showed us what it was.

Mr. N. on the nest and Lucky the squirrel below.

Ginger, thanks for the details of subadults that MrN and DNF were engaging with this morning.  The pic of MrN in the tree with the 2 sub-adults is a real winner.

Some of the squirrels lead charmed lives, don't they?

Beautiful sunrise views from the cam ops today! Amazing colors in Iowa.  There's a large flock of crows feeding in the pasture and near the creek this morning. Maybe an insect hatching??

MrN and DNF visited the nest in the early light, then MrN came back around 8:00 to pose for us.  DNF spent an hour or more on a Love branch, and Mr N joined her for a while.

It's a great day to be outdoors at the North's valley, and where I live in Missouri, too.  Yesterday, eeeeww, snow in mid-Michigan for the MSU football game.  Seems early for snow there.

Monday morning, MrN and DNF perched together in the Scary tree (I think). MrN left and collected a large branch on the creek bank or pasture. After some hopping, jumping, wrangling, he got airborne and brought it to the nest. All about 7:30 AM on the rewind.  It's noon now, and nothing much in view since the early activity.

All my pics are thanks to the camera operators! Well, all of us depend on them for great views here at the North's valley. I'm specially enjoying the expanded territory we can see this season. For example, one of the pics I'm posting is from the south end of the creek area, where the farm buildings get pixelated for privacy.

And rewind to the 10:00 nest visit to see wrangling of a very long, bouncy stick.

Time to donate on Giving Tuesday.

Several BEs were perched (possibly roosting) in a pine tree at daybreak. Then DNF brought a fish to a branch under the nest, then to the nest for breakfast. Lots of calling back and forth from her to MrN in the Love Tree.

After the BEs flew off, smaller birds visited all around the nest, entertaining on the rewind.  A whole nest of Northern Flickers in a tree hole.  Also a starling and a red-bellied woodpecker.  Hard to get good pics because they move so fast.

Beautiful weather in Decorah for the first of December!
