Great pics of the bather in the creek this morning!

Loved the squirrel looking at us (the camera). We can hear the camera motors, so perhaps the critters can also.

I'm still stumped by the little striped bird from yesterday, who was back today, eating seeds.

The woodpecker is a Northern Flicker. Interesting pic from the back.

STL -- That little bird is a Song Sparrow.  So cute.

Comment this morning by CamOp Spish on the Explore Chat Board in response to my question about loud feedback I keep hearing:

"we have 3 mics now, the one which seems to be more sensitive also has this boom like feedback… turn it on and off as needed. It catches more details too IMO"

Thanks to the camera operator this morning, we have several great pics to use for ID of MrN and DNF.  Note that DNF is larger, and she has some dark feathers around her beak and eyes and on the back of her head.  MrN is smaller and brighter white.

Thanks, Lisa.  I'd like to also get the right side profiles of the Norths, together.  Then closeups of their eyes.  Eyespots are like fingerprints.  Last year's pics may have those, but this new season is best.

Handsome Mr North this evening.  He did a lil preening of his beautiful feathers.

Lisa, MrN is one gorgeous eagle!  His dark feathers look new and ready for the season.

DNF spent the night on a Love branch. The first pic is about 2AM, while coyotes were singing (on the rewind). Then a visit to the nest just before daylight.

Two does crossed the pasture from the nest area to the creek at about 6:30, just after daybreak.  Good closeup views of a beautiful buck also, I think 9-point.

The pasture looks frosty at daybreak. Probably just heavy dew; don't believe it's cold enough there for frost yet.

STL -- I think it was frost.  I didn't think it was cold enough either but when I googled I found this on a news site:  "Typically, air temperatures are measured 5-10 feet off of the ground in shady areas. During the morning hours, frost can begin to form with temperatures as warm as 37 degrees. If it's 37 degrees at 5-10 feet above ground, it is almost always colder down at ground-level. That can cause frost to form car windows, grass, and slightly-elevated surfaces that have dipped to the 32-degree mark."  Low-lying areas get frost first and DNN is in a valley.  My local news station mentioned the other day that the average first frost date for this area is Sept. 29, so it's past time for a first frost here.

Lisa -- Nice pics of the coyote.  Apparently it's hunting bugs, probably grasshoppers.
