Very cold in this part of Iowa after yesterday's snowstorm. At noon, several eagles are perching in the tree tops waiting for something edible to venture out (I'm guessing).

Nice pics, STL.  Those BE's were perched over in the area beyond the cornfield to the North.  We hardly ever see that area on cam.

At about 12:56 cam op followed a red-tailed hawk soaring.  I think this is the first time I've seen one flying where I could see its red tail.

Lisa, whoo hoo, what a red tailed hawk soaring pic!  Gives me the idea for today's line of the "12 Days of Christmas" in the Lounge section.

STL There's always a lovely etheralness to a snowy forest.  Thanks.
Ginger many thanks for sharing cam ops capture of RTH. Ops waited to the moment when the sunlight hit just right to hi-light it's tail color.

STL - I wish I could take credit for those awesome pics of the RTH, but those were Ginger's pics.   :)

Oh gee! I'm so sorry Ginger.   All I know is with the arthritis I could never 'click' just right to capture 'the moment'. LOL

No problem, Phyl.  The cam op did do a great job, though, of following the hawk as it soared and also later on (or earlier, I can't remember) followed a couple of adult or nearly adult eagles as they soared.  Our cam ops do such a great job of finding and following the soaring birds.

Rewind to about 9:00 this morning for Canada geese in the creek, and they are still there at noon.

MrN (I think) brought a good sized fish to the nest for breakfast at 9:00, too. No one to share it with.  Some good closeups -- thank you cam ops for your great views this year.

Lisa, I agree that yesterday's fish-bringer was MrN.

Rewind to about 9:00 this morning for nest action, MrN and DNF on the snowy nest, where MrN dug up some leftover fish for DNF. This is the first I have seen them sharing food.  DNF watches from the Ladder Branch as MrN breaks off a crooked branch from a limb below the nest and flies it up. They tussle and do a bit more stick moving before flying away.  Great work by our cam ops to catch the action.
