Winter mood, bah humbug!  Not my favorite season of the year.
Glad you enjoyed the pics Jaspurr.

Mid-afternoon, the cam ops took a long touring look of the woods toward the South end of the creek (note pixelated buildings for privacy) and coming  back to the nest through the Southwest quadrant.  There's a road and a bridge, and the eagles like to perch back there.  Best to watch on the rewind if you like orienteering!

DNF visited the nest for a short time this morning.  Didn't bring anything, didn't stay long.

Not much going on at the nest at day's end.  Let's join Jaspurr & T40 in the Beak Room!

Lisa, who ever mistakes a skunk for any other animal! This one is visible for several minutes on the rewind from about 4:30 PM.  Iowa has 2 species. This one is the striped skunk.  The other, smaller species is the spotted skunk, which is endangered in Iowa.

STL - We have this species here where I live.  I actually had a family of 6 living in my backyard just recently.  I am hoping they are long gone, or tucked away for the winter.

Jaspurr - It started out as a family of 6, but Pepe' is the one that hung around the longest.

I wish I knew how to post the video that my husband took of the whole family around the tree in our backyard.

Couple snowy pics from the DNN nest this morning.  MrN and DNF moved lots of sticks from one side to the other. Not sure they brought any new ones. DNF did some digging. They needed to hang on tight in the wind.

T40, thanks for posting the obituary for BremerBirdFan.  She was very active as a mod for the North chat, and it was so good of the family to include her RRP participation in the obit.  A good reason to make a donation, in honor of Bremer and the others who passed away this year.

STL - Beautiful pics of the North's in the snow.

I wish this wind would die down some at Decorah.  It sounds wicked at times.

No sign yet today of the parents that I could tell.  At around 7:07 there were a couple of eagles chasing each other off of perches on the Scary Tree but at that distance I couldn't tell if either was a parent.  We've seen at least one juvie or subadult each of the last few days.  This morning there was one perched downstream toward the bridge.  At about 9:31 it flew down closer to the stream.  It then made its way upstream, stopping to perch on the Scary Tree, BPT, and the Claw Tree before diving to the stream.  I was sure it caught a fish because it disappeared behind the bank but I could see it flapping its wings.  However, when it flew up it didn't have a fish.  It flew to the Brush Pile and then off.

Fishing.

Ginger, thanks for the notes on morning activity. We are getting many new "North" views this season; it's exciting!  Cam ops are taking great advantage of the new camera capability.
