Lisa,  thanks for the map and compass!  The blue arrow is pointing at a location NOT where I was thinking. I was imagining the bluff & woods south and east of Trout Run Road, part way to where the Bluff Nest used to be.  Ah well, so much better to rely on those of you who have been to Decorah.

Mom was in her favorite maple perch this morning. Better view of her now that many leaves have fallen.

STL, this is a good reason for you to plan a trip to Decorah?

STL - Here is another pic from RRP website of the area.  The bluffs are East of the retention pond, kinda where that tree line rounds out past that lil white house on the pic.

Lisa, thanks for the map. I have that one, too. The bluffs you describe are exactly where I imagined they would be on that map.  Jaspurr, a trip to Decorah would be so wonderful.  So grateful for the live cams, chats, pics, videos, and Forum.   ;)

Love the views of Mom and DM2 perched in the forest at the top of the bluffs to the East of the Retention Pond!

RRP has a map on their website under the Decorah Eagles in the ABOUT THE DECORAH EAGLES section.  If you took the blue arrow and pointed it the area of the E & S (a lil more to the S), that would be the bluffs.
I think BrokenLug has a good map of the area too, maybe he will share it.

That's a major goof to me Lisa G.
I made that map years ago and sent it off to Amy.
"If you want to use it to help with N2 camera view orientation it's RRP's to use".

It showed which way the "default" camera view was looking from the N2 cam towards the bike path. Poorly.
Red arrow inset image.
Light Blue line on the Compass. ENE.
I didn't even know It was on RRP's website.

Pip and I have been dutifully camera watching the Decorah Eagles for 10 plus years now.

We've always thought since day 1 of viewing these cameras .. "there is just something magical about this place".

The eagles are magnificent of course, the river derived topography is unique, the weather moved by the topography.
The fish hatchery what a long preexisting aquatic bonus.

You know what has made watching it all so very much more special ?
Watching it all with you, newcomers and long time forum members !

To RRP for sharing this great legacy Bald Eagle gift to the world.

Priceless.

I'm Really trying not to add to any bearing/ orientation confusion to the hatchery area here.

North is N

I'm one of those freaks that you could put in a washing machine full of pine trees and terrain flip it upside down and spit me out.

I might get a wee bit confused for a few days, some times on purpose .. but alas we go this way.
As I forum type.  ;)

BL - Thank you! I had never, ever seen "The Bluffs" before and it answered all my head tilting-questions and put landmarks into perspective like never before. :o

Just zooming in from the greens of VT

there's an ornery fox taking my shoe

Little bastard just took off with my new jungle mock.

I'm left without a right. My bad.

I will eat you if I find you and pick my teeth with one of your little skinny bones.  >:(
