I agree with you Ginger.   I think the eagle was confused and the people doing the release were afraid to handle him and toss him into the air.

I thought all kinds of things during the release ... but all we know for sure is this eagle survived lead poisoning and lived to freely take wing again. That'll do.

Pics from "Opening Day; Cameras On" at Decorah.  There's so much to see even without our favorites, Mom and DM2.

Few more pics, this time from N1. It's a whole new look with the starter nest.  Looks gorgeous; come on, eagles!

We might have not seen any eagles on the nest yet, but there was a cute lil mouse.  I bet he is part of the Merry Maid crew.  :)

Lucky is finding slim pickings at N2B today!  But there will be plenty of cornstalks & ears after the harvest.

Mom finally showed up!  I was out running errands, came home looked at my screen and she was up on M2! What a sight to see.

Not the best pic, but you get the idea - Mom at the bottom of the pic flying towards M2, as Red looks up at her.

That last cap reminds me of the year the fledglings played in the pasture with the horses' fly mask. ;D ;D ;D

Oh Lisa, isn't it great to see Mom in the hatchery area!  I wasn't sure if that was also Mom in the pine trees soon after M2.  She hasn't claimed the fish at N1 yet, but maybe they are petrified by now. Ha.

Did you notice the number of views for our Forum pics?  Glad to know people are checking in.

Love the pic of Mom flying past Red.  T40, yes, I remember when the fledglings played with the horses' fly masks in the pasture!  Funny.  I think it was my first year of eagle-watching at Decorah, so maybe 2016?
