STL - I have been wondering about her visits to the maple and N1 lately.  Is she trying to entice the new kids to follow?  I hope so!

Ginger - I looked back in some of my pics from last year Oct 2020, that part of Maple2 has never had any leaves on it.

I notice there aren't any leaves at the top of Mom's maple.  Hmmm....

We were at the hatchery for the public discussion about the maples before M1 and others were removed. Every heritage maple along the drive shows signs of disease and distress. All their days are numbered. But to adjust a saying I have heard about oaks: Maples spend 50 years growing, 100 more years living, and then 50 years dying.

Mom sees that "infested, dying, and unsightly" maple tree as the perfect perch to view the world.

Hey everyone!  Just a little information about the 'After The Fledge' Trout Run Trail Bike Ride on Saturday, July 17.  Weather permitting we will meet at Decorah Bicycles at 8:45 AM CDT.  It opens at 9:00 AM on Saturdays.  I called and asked about wearing Masks inside the shop.  They are not required but are optional.  Decorah Bikes is located right next door to the famous Whippy Dip at 101 College Drive.  They do not take reservations so it is "first come, first serve".  Here is the link:  https://www.decorahbicycles.com/

We will be doing the easier part of the trail and that will be from the bike shop to the Decorah Fish Hatchery and back.  It's about 9 miles round trip.  We do stop and take a break at the hatchery.  There are 2 hills that we encounter. IverBurl, where do I go for breakfast now that Ruby's is permanently closed?

The most like Ruby's would be Family Table on Mechanic Street. Say hi to my Dad Vern, a regular.
You can still get the Ronnie's rolls that Ruby's served at the HyVee grocery, formerly Quillan's.

I have had breakfast a couple of times at Magpie, and I see Java John's also advertises some breakfast entrees.

Ton and I will vouch for Family Table.  Good family stop, food, prices; we've tried it several times.  Never did breakfast but guess this trip will do just that.

Right about 5:10 am somebirdy (sounding an awful lot like Mom) called morning reveille from off camera....then about 5 minutes later somebirdy (looking an awful lot like Mom) flew off toward the maple/retention pond area, down off the stairway perch and upstream toward the bridge.  Now if only those juvies would show up!
