The Decorah Eagles are doing wonderfully over at N3! Thanks to Iver Burl for the videos and news - it is great to see them!

You can count three little heads (D37, D38, and D39) in the midmorning video and a nice look at a P - I think it's DM2, but the eagle never turns its head! - in the parent on watch video. We think that the eaglets started hatching on or around April 4, which would make the oldest eaglet right around 28 days old. We can see white mohawks, warbling, pinfeathers (37 seconds and 1:15), and poop painting on the branches.

Iver Burl's (aka iverburl) comments on the videos:

Puff, if you mean the new nest tree, it seemed to have buds emerging on top. It is far though, hard to see. Sorry, I should have shot a closer zoom of the parent.

Thanks for all the captures of Mom at M2, Lisa.  She knows where the best fishing is!  It seems like N3 must not be too far away since she still frequents the hatchery area fairly often now that the eaglets have arrived.

Arcadia, thank you for the informative article from Susan Milius.  Glad they finally figured out that the Hydrilla was 'leaking' bromine compounds, but I wonder what the next step is.  It seems that they need to eliminate the hydrilla so eagles, owls, and other predators won't consume the poisoned water fowl that feed on it.

You're welcome, NW, any day to see Mom on M2 is a good day!  :)

I am thinking N3 must not be too far away either, maybe not in eyesight from N2B, but close enough.
 
Another chatter on Explore and I hear eagle chatter very early in the morning, near the nest.  Some mornings, it sounds like there is one that goes screaming by.
