Ginger - Thanks for the info on Mom & DM2's egg!  So excited for them and wish them much success at their new nest.

T40 - I know, I was getting use to calling it N5 too.... ;D

Hi, all! Good to know mom laid her first egg, even though we can't watch. *Sigh* Eagles will be eagles.... Well, that's nature for you.... Unpredictable! Lol! Are there plans to get permission to set up a camera at the new nest? I know that if it does happen, it won't be until july or august, but I just hope we'll get to watch mom & dm2 again next year!

Peep, thank you for sharing Robin Brumm's photos of N3. That nest is impressive in size! Do we know if Mom and DM2 built it from scratch this fall & winter?

I think they did, but many others on the forum think that it is too small around (?). Hmm...

I think it looks like a lot for one year.  It seems they have certainly been working on it more than we thought.

Unfortunately, there's really no spot in Decorah that won't have flies.

tjjtj -- it does look like they've put a lot of work into it.  Iver said that the branches look to him to be steeper than at N2B and so he thinks they had to add all those sticks in order to raise the nest high enough for the top surface to be a sufficient size.

Is this Mom and DM2 I'm seeing on the nest now?  Doesn't look like them to me! Or is my eyesight going???

nan - It sure looks like DM2, but definitely not Mom!

But, the one that isn't Mom, sure looks like the one who visited the nest last night in the video that Ginger posted.

Visitors at N2B, looks like DM2, but not Mom D!  They moved a lil material around and then flew off.

Thanks for the post, Lisa.  So it wasn't my eyes. The eagle on the right in your picture looks bigger than the one that may be DM2, so it's a female? Can anyone explain?
Since I'm here I want to acknowledge thanks to Lori for restoring my avatar (twice). She is so kind! Thank you, Lori! :D

nan - Just my opinion only, and I may be totally wrong, but yes I am guessing that is another female.
