DM2 must just be looking after his real estate investment and, in effect, putting up a "Not for Sale" sign for the curious. Mom, on the other hand, has clearly moved on. I'm sure the new nest has all the snow trampled down by now, with a new thick layer of grasses on top. :-*

I agree T40, I was thinking the same thing.  He brought in this  "itty bitty" clump of grass and "tiny" stick just to make it look lived in.  He looked at the cam and said, "I'm out".  ;)

Since Mom is the one that will be laying the eggs, she definitely has the final say on which nest they will call home this year. Sigh.

And . . . It's working!  We're all watching for the next visit.
Like the 2-year-old grandkids who know exactly how to hit up grandma for a cookie by doing something really cute.
Wonder if the GHOs are impressed, too.

One has to wonder if there was some type of human disturbance in the area of n2b while the cameras were offline and that is why mom and dm2 built a new nest.

I had been wondering the same thing. Maybe DM2 didn't like the people on the nest (when doing cam maitenence). I think last year when it was done DM2 was still AWOL, but I could be very wrong. Perhaps they have sensed something else going on with the tree? We'll never know. Sure miss them!

Activity at the retention pond this morning. A good sized gaggle of Canada geese making use of the open water, see pic at 8:30 AM and the rewind. Just at 11:00, there's an eagle swooping back and forth, disturbing the geese, possibly fishing. It's in the distance from the N2B cam, so too tiny for a pic.
