A few pics from rewind of the nest action - I noticed that the female has lil brown left at the tip of her beak and underneath it.

Male flying in who looks like DM2?

I watched on rewind - what a great feature! - and came away with a couple of thoughts. One, that was a bonded pair play-working on N2B. The smaller one with the dirty beak tip was DM2, which I could tell by his white collar. He has an extra long patch of white collar feathers on the left side. Their familiarity, ease with each other and hanky-panky on the skywalk lead me to think the larger bird was Mom. A stunningly beautiful Mom, I have to say. I couldn't really see her grey eyeshadow, which is probably because of the light. It would also be just like Mom to leave her first egg uncovered, anticipating a second egg, at least. That's about as far as I can go after musing on the confusion couch. ::)

Great pics, all, but now I'm more confused than ever.

Raptor Resource Project

Who was at N2B this morning? It didn't look like Mom or DM2 to us, but we asked Dave Kester to go out and take a look at N2B and N3. He verified that Mom and DM2 were still incubating at N3 and that another pair of eagles appeared to be hanging out around the hatchery. This is a fascinating if not entirely unexpected development!

Thanks, tulsa!

Just saw the post from RRP on Facebook.  I am glad to know that it was not DM2, even tho this male could pass for his twin!

I can't wait to see what develops here with this new couple.

He does look like DM2's twin!

We might have something to watch after all!

Like I said, I've never seen those 2 eagles before in my life! ;D ;D

P.S. If you google "confusion couch" images, you also get photos of the Decorah eagles!!! We have arrived!

T40, are you sure you haven't seen the male in this or a nearby nest  as a baby?
Lol.   The chicks come home to roost!
