Beautiful pictures LISA and STL.  If they are spending a lot of time at the Bluffs at least they are not at N3.  I will get excited when DN2 or MOM  show up with sticks or corn husks to N1 or N2B.  Keeping fingers crossed.

jaspurr - That is my same thoughts....if they are at the hatchery, they are not at N3, but I am not getting excited till I see some sticks at N2B, and a nest cup forming.   :D

Good Morning Lisa,
N1 is my choice.  Love the view of the barn and horses from N1. :) :)

N1 is my choice also, Jaspurr. But at least they are in the area.

Thanks, STL

I think one of them was a buck, but it was hard to tell.  Kinda blurry.

Mom showed up this afternoon a lil after 3pm.  She was perched close to the ground under the bluffs by the stream, she stayed for a while before heading over to the maple.

Lisa, your pictures are way better than mine.  I wasn't sure if it was all Mom this afternoon, or if DM2 was also there.

I wonder if anyone has been looking at N3 to see if nest work is going on there. The Norths have been doing lots of work on their nest lately, so I would guess that Mom and DM2 might be also.  Of course we want the active nest to be N1 or N2B!!

STL - The beak definitely looks like Mom's, so I am gonna say it's Mom.    :)

I don't think I have seen a boots on the ground report from RRP lately about what has been going on at N3.

Two observations from an old person (that means I could be way off the mark).

Our original Dad had a mate that he shared with the original mate.  They had the nest somewhere in the vacinity of the bluffs.  I don't recall ever seeing it pinpointed.  Unfortunately and sadly, the original female disappeared and no knowledge ever arose as to her.  Enter Mom - and, Dad and Mom paired together and built N1 in the cottonwood behind Willards back yard.  They never went to nest in the cliff nest that Dad had already.  Then came the explosion of attention in 2011.  Our Mom and Dad nested and gave us 3 little ones, N1. I know there were remnants of N1 when N2 was built - never had any word/reports on original cliff nest remnants.  In some years later, Dad mysterioiusly disappeared.

Second comment - a while back Amy (I believe) gave tidbits about where they were watching and what they saw from 3 or 4 locations that might be possibility.  My own report, even though I'm not wearing boots nor am I in Decorah area, would be that Mom and now even DM2 seem to be doing a lot of "hanging" on the trees at the base of the cliffs.  Could they be returning to the original cliff homestead?  Are they being seen anywhere else with any consistency?  Have any branch deliveries being carried through to somewhere?

OK - one more observation.  Through the years I remember only minor and intermittant stick delivery.  They started more earnest building about the middle of December?

I know some of you are ardent note takers.  How far off are my memories?

Puff--you're still my Poobah, but you're off on a few facts.  Dad's nest on the cliff came down (either a major branch broke or the tree fell over...I can't remember) and he built N1 while still mated to one-eyed mate.  She disappeared while Bob and Neil were making their video of N1 in 2007  ("American Bald Eagle") during which, eggs for 2007 were abandoned.  Mom then entered the picture and started her reign.
My buddy Rick told me about Bob and Neil making the video (he met Bob at the Toppling Goliath Brewpub, now Dixie's Biergarten) and took me out to the hatchery to see the nest and I've been visiting ever since.

EBURG  Thanks for the additions.  Great idea just popped up - How about a sequel being put together book or video "The Later Years".   We have those in forum/chat who maybe never saw or heard how this wonder of programming got started.  And now we have lived through so much it is difficult to remember it all without forgetting something or has been overtaken by the latest news.  OR. . . my start was in 2011 and that makes it 10 years of "History at the Hatchery."

I agree with you Puff.
Like historic evens such as: 1) the first gatherings in the summer--Naimoj, Tsk, Nanimal, and others renting the house for a week or two, the Masked Mods group photo the next year, the mobs in 2012 celebrating the fledge of D12, D13, and D14.   2) RRP starting up ATF gatherings, first in Phelps Park and then moving to the hatchery.  3) N2, Mulch Mountains, Dad's disappearance.  And of course Bob's Celebration of Life.  And the current beloved crew in RRP with so much growth I can't put it in this entry.

Second guessing myself on summer gatherings--seems like there was a gathering in 2011, the Masked Mods and house rental group photo picnic next, then Phelps Park, then the hatchery.....Need input from tsk and nanimal.  And Ais4, and Robin and TW....and :)

The American Eagle video showed that eggs were abandoned but in truth there weren't any eggs since the one-eyed female disappeared in early fall, 2007, earlier than eggs would have been laid.  They concocted that story for the video.  (Mom arrived in Dec. 2007.)

I have no doubt that Mom and DM2 are doing nestorations and since we haven't seen them on N2B or N1,  then it's likely N3 that they're working on.
