Raptor Resource Project
We're so glad we got to spend time with all of you this year - a year of wonderment at the North nest, wistful memories at the Decorah nest (thanks so much to Robin Brumm and Iver Burl for their boots on the ground reporting), and hope and crossed fingers at GSB! We'll be shutting our Decorah and Decorah North streams down for maintenance on Sunday, August 15, at 5:00 PM CDT. Look for a special chat on the Decorah nest from 3pm to 5pm on August 15 and watch the North nest for a flash chat!
Thank you to our camera operators and videomakers for sharing the lives of our eagles and the world around them, to our moderators for telling their stories and building the eagle community, and to you for watching, sharing, learning, and especially for caring! All of you make this the nicest place on the web!

Many, many thanks to RRP for doing so many creative things to bring us views of Mom, DM2, and their elusive offspring D37, 38, & 39. Double thanks to Iver and Robin for their visits, notes, and pics.

We were speculating that the shutdown seems early this year, and it is. The last pic I got for Decorah was AUG 29, 2020, and that was shutdown day. D34 dispersed way early, unbanded, and D35 was banded and dispersed closer to camera shutdown. D36, also banded, was still hanging around with Mom and DM2 at the end of August.  Someone will know when D36 left -- info probably with the tracking maps.

Mom has been on the Y branch for a lil while this morning.  Some birdy flew below her, and then at one point it sounded like someone landed on N1.  Mom started vocalizing and then moved on down to N1 out of cam view.  She eventually came back up.

Lisa & Tig, great to have more pics of Mom. Specially like watching her in defensive mode at N1. Hope this bodes well for the pair nesting here or at N2B next season.

Lisa, that last picture of Mom in the first series reminds me of the eagle poster that says "BUT I AM SMILING".   >:(
I am with everyone else who hopes that next year Mom convinces DM2 to use the N2B nest. It may require major renovations, but at least we will be able to see every moment of their fascinating lives.

Decorah Eagles. Mom on the Y-branch - explore.org 08-13-2021
08-13-2021. Mom comes to the Y branch early and stays for almost 5 hours. She was looking beautful as always. She takes a few naps,12:46 she starts vocalizing and an intruder flies over her. She preens a little, 14:14 gave us the famous heraldic pose, she preens some more and in the end flies off.

Great pics today Lisa, Stl, Tig & ALL!!!  Thanks for the heads up Lisa from RRP regarding the camera maintenance.  I am hoping that when the nest is weeded & maintenance complete Mom will think about using N2B for next season  ;D ;D ;D
