One of my many favorites from 2011!!! Isn't it just great, despite the grainy film? Thanks for sharing it here, T40.  I've watched this one so many times and never tire of watching my first Decorah family. Very special memories!

From rewind - Around 2:30am a barred owl visited the nest.  They were kind of entertaining hopping all over the nest and picking up sticks.  They eventually flew off, but it sounded like they landed on the upper part of the skywalk.

Classic for sure - Diva with her "stick" .  Maybe Mom should review the vid to give her a refresher on where to take fish for the three 2021 little ones.  Missing seeing their training lessons.   :-\

Mom is already on board coming to the hatchery.  I wish DM2 would be spotted there.  If he comes the rest will surely follow?  :) :) :) :)

Mom arrived at N1, and stayed for about 15 minutes.  She did a lil preening to her feathers before finally vocalizing and flying off.

NOTE to IVERBURL regarding Off The Driftless.  ATF announcement still says OTD is closed.  Their FB page says they opened on June 28.  In the past you have coordinated this outing, but a different person was assigned after the 2019 event, but nothing being clarified about that this year.  Are you, or this new person, coordinating people who are interested in canoeing/kayaking the river - or are we all on our own for renting canoes (or Osagians as the case may be)?  Thanks for any additional info, Scott  :)  Looking forward to seeing you and Becky soon.

July 6, 2021: Mom on N1 and on the Y-branch - https://youtu.be/Wd7xSQQ9jrM. Mom thrills us all with a quick visit! She is standing on one of the camera cables at the beginning of the video. The cable is low-voltage and covered with loom, a rubberized hose, and camo tape to keep the eagles from piercing it. Although Mom appears to be a little curious about it, it doesn't appear to bother her.
July 6, 2021: Barred owl on N2B - https://youtu.be/EsJnjpcTja8. A barred owl checks out N2B, mantles (4:25), and leaves, all in almost complete silence. This is a stunning look at a very elusive bird!
July 5, 2021: Eaglevocals, a flyby and Mom with a fish on N2B - https://youtu.be/JkBEVgQTEVY. Mom keeps us guessing! I can't tell you how much I enjoyed hearing and seeing her again. We also saw her over near N1 just this morning. It's interesting to me that she is spending time here again, especially given that the N3 tree is dead. It is a good place to stay out of sight, especially with hungry fledglings on the wing. Still, I can't help but hope that she's reconsidering her decision to move.

Lisa, love the pics of Mom at N1 and the Y. She looks remarkably svelte for this time of year. What a blessing to have little bother from the blackflies.

Thanks for the barred owl pics, too. I saw only one owl on the rewind.  It looked like maybe pouncing on moths or other insects now and then.  Beautiful, but stay away when there are baby eagles!

You are correct, thanks for checking.
- Off the Driftless is open now, as you have seen. More rain expected in the next few days. The river probably will be good for paddling next week.
- I have stepped down as the paddling coordinator. An RRP person was going to take over. But as of yesterday, she now cannot attend ATF. I don't know RRP's current plans.

Thanks so much for your response Scott.  It is unfortunate that the new/changed plan has not worked out well for those of us who may have enjoyed a group river outing - as a scheduled event.  If you think you and I could grab the two Osagians they may still have, Jheli and I would join you for a run down the river if you're interested  :)  Sounds as if the water may be ready for us.

If wishes were horses . . . Somebody please take your branch loppers to ATF and remove just that one branch from the Maple tree. Then, we'd have a clear view of Mom or whichever BE likes to perch there, usually early in the mornings.  I know, we can't disturb the eagles, but wouldn't it be great to see them?    ;)
