TY Lisa.  Mother Nature provides quite a daybreak spectacular in this part of Iowa.

No eagles in view. About 4:30 PM, barking dogs followed by 2 very loud gunshots, then a distant shot of perhaps 2 dogs running across the pasture (way to the left of our view), then one more gunshot very close. No sightings or sounds of people. It's still gun season for deer through DEC 20. No wonder, no eagles in view.

I would stay away too!

Eagles are back at the nest this morning, after another colorful daybreak.

About 10:30AM, there was a quick chase, with MrN diving off the nest, encountering another adult BE, then landing on one of the Yonder branches. The "other"  disappeared in a video hiccup. Soon DNF brought a branch to the nest while MrN perched. Then both did some nest work, including MrN testing an early nest bowl.

Perhaps the chatters at Explore have better info about the chase sequence.

Somebirdy was perching in the Scary Tree about 11:30 AM. I think it's MrN.

After some paired nest work at 8AM, MrN brought prey to the nest, followed by screaming DNF to claim it. Muskrat for brunch at about 10AM. Good closeups of devouring, mantling, other action until noon. Even a woodpecker visited.

Always something enjoyable to watch at DNN. Nest work, stick delivery, perching nearby, unusual sunrise color so far this morning.

Sunset on the winter solstice, turning the trees reddish pink for just a few moments. The good news is that days start getting longer now.

Philjo, great pics of the pair together. See why it's called the Love Branch.

Another spectacular sunrise at the North nest site today.

Did anyone else catch the Great Conjunction last evening, just after dark? Jupiter & Saturn closest together for several hundred years. They will drift farther apart each night. Clear where I live and visible with the naked eye. Lucky me, but no pics. See observatory websites for pics, I'm sure.

Right in the center of the  pic, here's one BE in a Creek tree at 4PM. My only sighting for today.
