Was it just me, or did it seem there was a spotlight shining and moving over the tree when Mom was there this morning? It looked very odd, and continued when she went out on the branch.
It wasn't just you! I noticed it last night and this morning too.
Yes, sometimes there
is a startling
spotlight at night when the eagles take center stage and there's a cam op watching the show.

When the male-who-cannot-be-named flew down to the nest very early this morning I swear I saw the IR source move downwards! Like it had been trained on the 2 of them last night and then adjusted, with human help, to put the male in a spotlight of IR light when he flew to the nest. New feature? Do I need new pupils?
T40, I noticed that it got brighter on him too. I actually thought it was like a flash or something.
I wasn't watching this morning, T40, so I don't know. But, I do know that on the DNN nest there are 2 cams that each have their own IR and each IR can move with their respective cams. That allows us to have IR light on what we call the Love Tree which is a tree to the left of the nest tree and is a place where our eagles frequently spend the night. But, if they're on the nest there can be an IR light there.

Thanks, Ginger. That helped so much, I think I've got it. There are 2 cams pointing at the nest and the skywalk. (I'm leaving out any other cam(s) and angle(s).) One cam is a Point-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) with IR and the other one is either a PTZ or stationary cam with or without IR.
If you rewind about 10 hours 21+ minutes from this post, both eagles are in close-up on the skywalk. Their eyes look like headlights so the IR is on from somewhere. I believe this is the PTZ-IR cam.
Both eagles leave the skywalk an make it to the nest. There is a "dissolve" and the new view is a wide-angle of the skywalk and the nest and both eagles on the nest. I believe this is the 2nd cam because the close-up view of the skywalk didn't just pan out for a wider view; there was a cam switch.
Mom goes back to the skywalk, leaving the male on the nest. A car with its headlights on passes by the nest and then the magic happens. A circular spot of "light" moves downward and shines on the male in the nest. This definitely wasn't an IR "bloom." I believe this is the PTZ-with IR cam repositioning itself from the skywalk view to the nest view, illuminating the nest. The spotlight is now on the male in the nest and Mom is kinda in the dark on the skywalk.
So, are there any live eagles on the nest now so I can talk/think about something else?
