Little wings, big wings. #RoyalCam chick has a little flap of their tiny wings.
From 8 days old to approx. 8 months, the time it will take SP to grow wings that will span over 3 metres.
We will enjoy every minute watching this chick grow.

#RoyalCam chick is doing & growing well, weighing 890g (1/30). Watch SP’s weight check (9:53), chick squeaks too.
Daily checks continue until the weekend, then changing to weekly (Tuesdays AM).

Royal Albatross - 2/3 20:37 - A warm day & the #RoyalCam chick is getting too big for constant brooding. 
SP can also retain body heat better, less dependent on mum for this.  Still relies on L for cover, when it is time to rest.

2/4 14:44 - Another warm day, with Rangers providing L & the #RoyalCam chick some heat relief.  With a warming climate, nest irrigation is essential.
L's afternoon is meeting (not necessarily greeting) passing visitors, then it is just her & SP.

2/5 10:41 - This #RoyalCam swap meet was not so 'neat'.
GLY (DAD) returning for his turn to guard, seems super keen to resume his shift.  This includes shifting L (MOM) off the nest. 
Mind those feet - SP just wants to sleep.

Both parents seem anxious to return to their chick (SP). Their time away from nest to forage is about two - three days.

2/8  #RoyalCam chick at 19 days old, still snoozing under the covers of L (Mum) before GLY arrived to resume guard duties.
How lucky we are to watch this chick grow from egg to fledge.

SP is busy preening – they have a lot of  ‘growing-in’ their feathers to do.
But there is always plenty of room for L & her #RoyalCam chick to enjoy some evening sun together.

L gets up and touches her chick to wake them up ♥ Cute yawns and little preening by SP before Mom gives a quick afternoon feeding! Looks like SP is really gaining some good weight now. Soon GLY & L will not be able to brood SP like this and will have to be standing up mostly!

All paddles, prods & preens at this #RoyalCam ‘party’.
GLY heads off after a not so elegant changeover, & L spends some time mutual preening with the remaining visitor (BO).
Visitors are good prep. for SP & the post-guard stage.
In the meantime – back with Mum.
