April 10, 2019
6.12 am  She had left earlier, he stayed, wandered around, appeared to - taste? - an egg
 -  Those eggs are probly chirping, hatching soon
  -  He foots an egg to test for temp
  -  Its only a guess but I think he's had a brood before
6.14 He leaves
6.18  She's on eggs
   -----
Today I saw what *could* be a pip .. time will tell.
I hope this has a good outcome, but .........

Those eggs are often alone.
Male comes in and tells her to go
She goes - and so does he

We should watch for a pip, but with the new male anything may happen
He is bringing prey several times a day - more than 2 birds can eat so a stash is likely

Kentucky Falcons
Published on Apr 9, 2019

This video was captured on a web camera at a Peregrine Falcon nest at Louisville Gas and Electric?s Mill Creek Station in Louisville Kentucky. The past week Kentucky Fish and Wildlife biologists have been watching this falcon nest closely. Peregrine falcons are notoriously territorial and pairs can occasionally be replaced by competitors. It has become apparent that a new, banded male has replaced the original, unbanded male falcon at this location. In this video, the banded male brings food to the female in the nest box. Unfortunately, the banded male does not incubate the eggs, which is typically a shared responsibility for peregrine falcons. With incubation duties reliant solely on the female, the chance of a successful nest this season is reduced.   :'(

Biologists will continue to monitor this nest throughout the remainder of the season. If you have any questions regarding this nest, please contact the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

April 13
6.45 am  She's gone, male on rail
7.55 am  He left, returned with prey, began to eat it - she's still gone
I half expect her to leave one day and not return at all
8.23  She is finally back
8.30  He's back with another bird, she leaves
 -  This is NORMAL male behavior at hatch time

* Ky is on eastern time - just found out today   ;D

April 15, 2019
7 am  finds Ky standing in the doorway - and then he's away
 -  He came back and stood over, close to the eggs - cute
7.30  Diana is back and they peep to each other
She is in no hurry to return to incubation - but its not cold

Diana leaves OFTEN, and eggs are alone.
She is delaying hatch til Ky is trained
He is likely a youngster perhaps age 3
He is bringing prey several times a day
They probably have a stash

7 am  Ky shows up, she leaves
7.20  Diana returns but leaves again
8.07  Ky messes with the eggs

Afternoon
Diana appears to have begun incubating seriously again
Ky is attempting to incubate

This just may work out

bcaw bev's pic

April 16, 2019
6.45 am  beams of light peek in as Diana is preening
 -  Ky comes and she leaves, there is a pip ? in the TOP of one egg,
  -  but thats where a chip's been out of the egg for a week
  -  I thot pips were in the end of an egg??
7.30 am  Sure looks like a pip but I dont see movement
7:45: She's back and gets on her eggs!  Gone an hour
8.10 am  We have 2 pips - at least - and Ky is VERY curious
 -  Diana looks at eggs to see which she shd keep in front

Those pips got bigger all day

I am sure the chicks are VERY LOUD!
I have heard chicks inside the egg on GSB cam!

10.45  she went and got the bird again
She stuffed the older ( I presume) 2 chicks, the 3rd demanded bites and got them
 -  I never saw #4 get up.  She laid the bird on top of one - I hope its ok
 She left with the bird
