5:37 Wow!
33 and cloudy here.  Some light snow over night.
Odin is off school until Jan. 6th.  So I am off bus pickup duty until then. I will miss him everyday.
Trying to help Shannon with her student loans.  They are very hard to understand, and there are three of them.  I don't know why.  She only went to one school.  How do three different banks claim she owes them money?  Seems like a racket to me.
Not at all sure how this will work out, but will keep digging.  Too bad Biden could not take away this lifetime load from her and all the other students.  Especially those who got the debt without the education to earn real wages to pay it back.  The school system let them down.  They were used by the banks and the schools.  Now they are saddled with lifelong debt they cannot afford to pay and the interest is growing.
I will go call somebody right now to try to get some clarity.
Bye EV1.  GBU, Israel, Ukraine and all who are suffering today.

Blue Sky, Big Birds - UPDATE December 20, 2024

Bald eagle sitting
Bald eagle takes flight
Bald eagle takes flight

When I’m trying hard to focus on the computer, suddenly there is blue sky and big birds distracting me out the window. First, it was the eagle checking for food and swooping up to a branch in good sunlight and good background sky. After looking nicely at the camera as if he could see it through the window with me sitting at my desk, he reached for the sky with his wings and was gone.

Raven

Raven launches
 Raven
Raven dives
Then a raven did about the same thing, sitting on a nice red pine branch with good sun showing detail in its feathers and a light in the eye. I had to click, only to see him take flight and go into a dive all in good light. Click, click, click. And I was glad to see detail in the feathers that I haven’t seen for days with overcast skies.

Flying Squirrel
Flying Squirrel

But it was at 6:51 PM the night before that I had the biggest jolt of action right outside my desk window. I had just seen that I had to click this flying squirrel sitting in his nice hole eating from the jackpot of sunflower seeds it had reached. Suddenly there was a flurry of feathers, big wings against the window, as the first great-horned owl I’ve seen here in over 22 years (since May 18, 2002) made a try for the squirrel and I couldn’t see the squirrel. But no, the flustered owl was sitting on the deck in good light maybe six feet from me with no squirrel. But by the time I could aim the lens it was gone. Shortly the squirrel appeared, saying telepathically that it was okay (at least that is what I imagined by its calm demeanor).

Then, for me, it was back to work. I do like bright, sunny days with wildlife action. It’s just that I can only do one thing at a time.

Thank you for all you do,

5:11 Yay For me! Really cold out this morning, and everything is white with just a little snow.  I will stay in I think.
Hope your noisy friend likes the rural life in the barn.
Yes, the more I see of the student loan program the less I like. It seems dishonest and immoral. Especially for students who could not complete their degree programs. Interest rates are too high, and the duration of repayment is way too long.  20 or even 30 years to get out of debt.  Yikes!!!!  They say only 4 to 5 % interest, but the way they stretch it out you pay close to 30% in interest.  Never the less I am determined to help Shannon shed this onerous yoke of indebtedness, and improve her credit rating.
Boy! Trump and Musk are really shaking up things in Washington DC.  I am apprehensive about our  future.
Now GBU EV1, Israel, Ukraine, America, and all who are suffering today.

7:07  oh well someone has to hold down the low end of the curve I guess.
Very cold out. 18 degrees at 8:14.  Snow very crunchy still.  I need gas and some beans for chili.  I made chili yesterday, but I did not remember to get kidney beans when at the store.  So I put in two cans of diced tomatoes, some corn, and some green beans.  Then I cut up an onion and a little celery. I cooked it until the celery was soft.   I don't know just why, but it came out kind of burny on the tongue.  I think it was the tomatoes that were "chili ready". First time for them.
I did not have any stewed tomatoes either come to think of it.  All I did have were a few packs of French's Chili-o from Shannon.  I need to go to the store again today.  I will make a note this time, and it will start with fixings for chili. LOL
Thanks for sharing Janice's family. Tell her I said happy holidays and send more clever stuff please.
Buye for now EV1 GBU.

I left a 12 lb. turkey in the oven at 350 while I visited Bonnie.  Popper did not pop, but temp is 180 in thighs and in breasts.  Bonnie's daughter Annie is coaching me to cook it some more because the popper did not pop.  She said I had to cover it to prevent drying out.  I did tent it.  I hope it works.  I am sur of one thing.  I will be eating turkey for a while. LOL
