Lorie

Monday finds me wishing a great day for all of you.

I have to search the house because somewhere I have lost my energy.  It can't be too far away because I just had it yesterday.

Willi, the Marlins are on th;eir way to San Francisco and Anderson is still with them.  I won't be able to watch the games because they don't start until 10 our time..

The Four Bears- UPDATE June 17, 2018
 Print  Email
Bear News from Sharon ? June 17, 2018

Happy Father?s Day!

Lucky
Lucky
It?s good to be back with the bears! On my first day back this week I took a walk to see all my sweet bears. Ted by-passed food to greet me, I was amazed. I think the big guy missed me. Next I saw Tasha who immediately wanted a back rub. She moved her paws to behind her ears for a scratch and then to the top of her head. She also got a lip tug, which is something that bonds us. She is a funny little bear. The interns thought she was very cute and enjoyed the way she moved her paws to guide my hands to the "itchy" part of her head.

Tasha
Tasha
Lucky seemed happy too, he smelled my hand for a long time before taking a treat. Then there is my Holly bear; she also asked for a back rub. I was quick to respond because we had had words before I left and she had the final word that day. Estrus continues to rule the enclosure.

In just two weeks we will celebrate the bears half-birthday. Each year we celebrate in late June. This year, we will celebrate on July 1 at 9 am CT, so our loyal fans from across the pond can get in on the action too. Each bear will receive a pi?ata filled with treats. To make it fun, you all get to vote for which pi?ata each bear will receive. It?s a fun way to raise money for the care of our bears. Watch for all the details coming soon on our Facebook page Ted

Thank you for all you do.

Tasha knows what she is doing with this feeding tube. She seemed to be looking for grapes and rolled it back and forth when they were finally gone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9DsUdNSkHA

From a couple days ago, Lucky and Holly?s play was spectacular and familiar to those who have watched them over the years

Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRcchAjS1ww 11:20 minutes long

Many thanks to the mod who captured these.

Another mod forwarded this 2-minute video of ?Sweet T? moving more slowly on a hot summer day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rERtXlj_b7E.

We were happy to see lactating Samantha today but didn?t see her cubs.

Word is that nice Ursula made it through and is back.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- jp- ty for the honey bee teddy and lorie- hope you find your pep today; if not listen to some of your wonderful music and chill

cal- i'm not surprised that ted by passed food to greet Sharon- when I met her I could tell her devotion to the bears; Ted's reaction to her return tells a lot about her - Are you getting those puppies trained yet-lol. Duke went home yesterday afternoon- he got to ride home on a four wheeler- they don't live too far from here- just a little over a mile. Duke's dad said he wouldn't have gotten any sleep with duke there. Apparently duke is just hyper when his mom leaves. I said he (duke) is always welcome here- when we go to bed at night duke sleeps sound on his blanket at the bottom of the bed between hubby and me. Not a peep out of him til I get up. Tank came out to send duke on his way. Pretty funny that tank is taller than duke!

It is already 76 here- watered some containers this morning but we are supposed to get storms this PM. Heat should be gone by tomorrow. YAY.  The goings on at decorah have been interesting to watch. Glad D30 made it back.

Have a great day jewelies- haven't heard from a bunch of you lately so I will picture you all enjoying the summer!

hi lupe! yay duke on the four wheeler wish i could do that with a little dog i have not done that since griz was a puppy. he had no fear loved riding it with me.  no puppies not trained heck boo boo not trained. i have been cracking down on them puppies though. picking on the cats NO they chewed the corner off my ottoman at 1 am  >:( tank taller than duke i am jealous of that! if only these were little bitty dogs. but not their fault. i knew sharon was a really good person bears loving her so much. wonderful for both of them. i just got all my paperwork done in here for our ac business i am happy to have this done puppies are sleeping.

Jumping Bears, LilyPad Picnic - UPDATE June 18, 2018
 Print  Email
Jumping bears are the fad on the internet these last few days. It turns out that they are good broad jumpers but not so much high jumpers.Bear jumping over stream
Bear jumping over stream - WRI file photo

First, a friend sent a video of a black bear jumping to reach his bird feeder. It gives an idea how high to hang bird feeders if you want to keep them out of reach of bears. https://youtu.be/ETkag8Fvmm8

Then, there is this cute 17-second video of a spectacled bear from South America mimicking a little boy jumping in the Nashville Zoo on June 14 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inmLutogRtI

Lilypad picnicThis picture of the black bear broad-jumping the stream is one I took decades ago.

On another note, I got a nice email that the 9th annual LilyPad Picnic is coming up on July 20-22 and it is time for people to start purchasing their tickets at www.lilypadpicnic.com. Looking forward to it. Always fun. A great way to meet Lily Fans who are keyed into Lily and the other bears. Good activities, good food, good silent auction, nice bonfire at the Bear Center, a big weekend.

Thank you for all you do, and I hope to see many Lily Fans there.

Good morning everyone- ty jp for the sunflower teddy , crackle and honey Tuesday greeting.

cal- when you are gone for awhile do you put the puppies out in an enclosed area? I imagine in the house they get into everything. Tank was in rare form last night- really hot and humid out so he was in early. I was watching bear grylls on tv and tank was on both kitchen and dining room tables- he isn't allowed up there; then he proceeded to knock everything off the tables. then he would take off running on the throw rug by the back door and fly through the house. The rug would be all bunched up in the corner- seems he spun his wheels before getting enough traction to run. He really does sound like a tank in the house.

72 out so I turned off the ac- supposed to get rain- sky looks threatening- but we'll see. Started the Harry Potter book yesterday- really good. Didn't do much but read all day yesterday- might have to get the second book tomorrow.

Have a great day jewelies!

)

I noticed that when I got  up this morning.  9th inning rally started by Anderson's getting on base.  Their record is 29 wins and 44 losses but they  seem to come from behind often.
