Cal, I know what you mean by not funny but funny now. You can laugh about something after it's over and done. Hope that med kicks in soon for Scootie. The weather guy is telling us that a very dangerous storm is heading our way sometime after 2 am. High winds and heavy rainfall is expected. They already have flash flood warnings out. This storm is coming from the Dakotas and barreling east. I think Obsver may be in its path. After that passes then another one coming thru tomorrow evening. We need rain but not a lot and certainly not high winds. The power company has all their employees on alert. They are reminding everyone to charge the cell phones and have flashlights handy. They are kinda scaring me. I bet I don't sleep a wink tonight. Hope it weakens by the time it gets here!

Hi Jewelies!  Same ole, same ole here.  Went to the dentist and was told I need another crown.  I asked if I can wait awhile and he said I could, but don't make it a year!  lol  Today is my daughter and her hubby's 17th wedding anniversary. Also my anniversary year... no more husband!  lol

rues... I saw on the news that storm near Chicago and heading your way!  Yes, you're right... probably heading for obsver, too.  Stay safe!!  I sure hope it fizzles out by the time it gets to you guys!  Are there tornado warnings, too?  I hope it's not as hot there as it is here, especially if they expect the power to go off for any amount of time!  I'll be thinking of you!!

cal... Well, I got my book from the library... the Obsession.  I just started it this afternoon and I'm on page 137 already!!  I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow... I'd read all night!  lol  Poor Scootie!  Geez... I wonder why his seizure makes Drama want to attack him!  I hope they figure out his meds so it doesn't happen again!  I think you're right about big dogs... little ones are so much easier to handle.  Glad you have your little Cream Puff.   ;)  Did you see the kittens tonight?  How's mama cat?  Love Dr. Rogers' Alaska pics!  Otters are one of my favorite animals!

obsver... Hope your weather isn't too terribly bad!  Stay safe!

Hi neva... Good to see you!

Hi Nora, willi, dlong, JP, blschue, Eaglette,... who am I missing?  Seems like I'm missing someone... I apologize.  Hi to everyone!  lol  Stay safe!  Stay cool!  Stay well!   Back to my book...

Hi Jewelies!  ;)

Well, I am having trouble getting to sleep. Worried about Obsver, Rues & Ra. Many tornadoes around Obsver and everything headed to West Virginia and North Carolina for later tonight and tomorrow. The Weather Channel is predicting a derecho for West Virginia and North Carolina. Hope you all will stay safe!!

Bow just sitting there

On a scale of 1 to 10 I am about a 6 this morning.  Feeling good but the body is slow to react.  I need some of that 5-minute energy stuff.

Concerned about all the stormy weather around up there.  Praying it  does not hit any of you or cause severe damage to anyone in its path.

cal, so sorry for Scootie and Drama's being so terrible.  The Marlins are starting a 4-game hosting of the Cubs.  That should help prove if they are a good team or not.

This morning I just wish you all

Daily Updates
A Nice Welcome Back - UPDATE June 22, 2016
22 June 2016
Print Email
The highlight today was a nice welcome back from Burt. I knew he?d been seen, but this time I got to see him. It?s part of what makes the home area special. Burt
Burt
He is one of the bears I most wanted to see and that I wanted Black Bear Field Course participants to meet. I remember when I met him on April 3, 2005. He was bigger than his sister Ursula and growing past the critical socialization period. He was a little defensive, unlike his sister, but he was still in the socialization period enough that he remembers me in a kindly way?to this day. Yet I never hear of anyone seeing him outside this tiny area. Here, he is totally trusting of everyone.

At the Bear Center, Tasha continues to adapt to her new home and keepers. She took ownership of her pen a bit by raking straw into a bunker den.

People are asking how my talks were received at the International Bear Conference. The best indication of that is being asked by two professors to write a chapter (4,000-5,000 words) in a book they are putting together. I saw who the other writers are and what they are writing about and felt honored to be a part of it. This will be a good book for bears. Along that line, I was also asked to be part of a new documentary in the works. Same story. The purpose of it is not to make animals look dangerous to get viewers. It is to highlight people who took a second look at so-called dangerous animals and saw something else. The documentary is about what they saw and how it helped change attitudes. I feel honored to be asked to be part of that, too. The documentary is not finalized yet. Thoughtful people are coming around. The tide is turning with the help of Lily Fans.

Thank you for all you do.

Hi JP! love the pic of bow! Royals lost both games to the mets. we will starting a series with houston astros three games at home then some with the cardinals at home. Drama was horrible to scootie got it out for him. jim needs to lay into him.

Hi Ra! i was going to ask you if you got that book! is it not a really really good book!! i gave up sleep for it.  your anniversary of no husband lol lol last night i went back out to the barn was so hot had seen the kittens all afternoon. sister was in the living room watching property brothers. i got out there and was looking down the hay hallway calling kitties. well that pale yellow one she came out and towards me. i backed up and she came on down the little hay hill there. i had my finger under some hay moving it back and forth and she was jumping on it. i was touching her paws. she turned around and i picked her up.  held her by the back of her neck and put my lips on top of her head and she was kinda stunned like i got myself up and i came in the garage held her with one hand and opened the door came in the house augie sleeping by my door drama in the kitchen i walked over augie and in my room and tator tot was sleeping on my bed and i took her in the bathroom. put her down with her mom and that mom was so happy to see her kid. licking her purring talking to her that kitten happy to see her too. i left that carrier in there when i got her so the kitten got in there and mom got in there too. kitten was hot out in the barn sure is liking this ac. saw the others this morning and fed them. so hoping to catch them too.

Good Morning JP.

Thanks for all you do too.  I am always here.  I live vicariously through all the ups and unfortunately the downs of all our dear chatters.  Bless them all.

To all I say one of my saddest days was when sweet Honey went over the rainbow bridge.  So quick from here to there for her.  I am still stunned.  I know that death is a part of life, but some passings seem more impactful on me.

Again, I am here to stay and will look each day for your cheerful greeting. You are a treasure.

Good morning Jewelies! The weather guy hit it on the nail...he said the rain would start at 2 am and boy was he right! It started pouring at 2 and shortly after the most horrible scary thunder and lightning came! Poor Molly is petrified of thunder so she laid on the floor next to my bed shivering. The wind wasn't as bad as they predicted for our area. Glad of that but other parts of the state got hit worse. There are power outages south of me. I haven't heard any word of a derecho in the state. It was 4 years ago June 29 when the derecho hit here. That was the first time I ever heard that word. My rain gauge measured 2 1/2 inches of rain but other areas got more. Now my rain barrel is full!  There are storms predicated for all day in fact there is one happening right now. Almost forgot to tell you this...at 4 am my cell phone blasted a siren followed by a flash flood warning message! Liked to scared me to death! Never had it do that before! Looks like no mowing today! Bbl!
