Veronica sees details of chipmunk behavior I wouldn?t notice. She names the squirrels and chipmunks using features I haven?t taken time to notice. Veronica and Ted

The day started with Veronica expressing her fear of snakes. By mid-afternoon, she wanted to go looking for them. A high point today was seeing newly independent yearling Glory (daughter of Shannon, granddaughter of Donna, great granddaughter of Blackheart, and great great granddaughter of Shadow), but the only bear she mentioned in her account for today was Ted, who steals hearts.

?It started off as a rainy day, but it was sunny and warm and then in half a millisecond it could be cold and rainy! Anyway, Grandpa and my family took a boat ride on the lake. I drove us all the way home!
One of the reasons we went on the boat ride was to find frogs. We did not, but we got great Loon pictures!
I decided we could not go back to the bear center empty handed, so we went to look for frogs. No luck at the first pond, but boy was it an adventure. Grandpa slipped on a rock but caught himself by jumping to dry land, and mom slipped on the dock. So, empty-handed, we came home (to the cabin) Great Blue Heron

and checked the duckweed pond, and sure enough no frogs, but two ducks! Grandpa got a picture of them until they saw him and flew away. After the birds left, grandpa spotted two little eyes popping out of the duckweed. A frog! And soon enough she had a nice habitat at the bear center (make sure to see Ducky the green frog at the bear center).

The day was not over. Mom and I started to get a headache and dad was starving, so we went to the Ely lodge to get lunch.
We decided the bear center needed snakes. We searched for hours tipping over branches (boards) and rocks.
We had to go to the bear center to say goodbye to Ted (my favorite bear) and Ducky (the new green frog).

Everyone was wondering where the snakes where. We had to confess we spent hours to find no snakes.
So after a few sounds from Ted we went back to the cabin. It was truly a wonderful day. I?m glad I made a new friend, Jaqueline.
Until next year (or a couple of year sadly)
Veronica?
Veronica, Kate, and Adam leave early tomorrow.
Thank you for all you do.
