Hello Jewelies. What a lovely Saturday it is here. That was said with sarcasm. My weather is not much better than yours. There is a thick layer of marine cover, which means everything is looking gray. They call it gray May in my neck of the woods. It gets followed by June gloom. That can get depressing with all that blahhh outside. All the more reason to come to the Forum for a good cheer!!
Cal, that LARGE photo of your good looking boot, just about kicked me off my seat. lol That looks like it is going to be really comfortable to wear. I have an old pair, and I mean old... Timberland hiking boot. Back when they made them with all leather and they were heavy. I traveled to Yosemite during one hot summer and by the time I got the shoes out of the trunk to put on for hiking, I discovered that the heat in the trunk melted all the shoe glue that kept the soles on the bottom of my hikers. That was the end of the best pair of hikers I ever owned. I took them to a shoemaker, but the soles never felt comfortable and now they are collecting dust somewhere with all my camping and hiking gear. Somehow, I always imagined you out in the barn with these kind of boots on:

So there you go surprising me again Cal. First, you don't sound in real life like I hear you sounding in my head whilst I read your tales and now you are not even running around your homestead wearing the kind of boots that I pictured you wearing. What are you going to tell me next? I sure hope you run around with piggy-tails and wear a bandanna to keep you from inhaling all the dust and mucking fallout. lol Don't tell me if it isn't true, I want to keep your memory in my mind clear. hahaha.
Obsver, congratulations on raising your child so well that you got such a well raised granddaughter out of that effort! In Girl Scouting you'd get the Gold Star award for making something sustainable. Job well done!!!
Nora, I call my "athletic shoes" gym shoes. Gets my kids laughing to this day. They were always gym shoes for me growing up.
Rues, your Grandpa was right about the planting. Seems like the stores just push all this stuff on us earlier and earlier each year. The stores here have school supplies put out in July, which is right after school lets out. Who wants to shop for that so early. Same with all the holidays, it just gets earlier and earlier each year. There is one thing that cannot be rushed, that is Mother Nature. If it cannot be planted earlier than May 15, then there is no use enticing us to purchase these plants before it is time to plant them. But that is consumerism these days. Money money money.
JP, looks like Donna was being a little tease there with her hanging all out of her fur like that. lol She looks more like she is posing for Bear Pin Up calendar than for Bear News Magazine. hahaha.
Ra, do your brothers still tease you about all their shinanigans? My Aunt gave it back to my Dad tenfold when he finally was a Dad. She gave me lots of things that she knew my Dad would not like listening to when we got back into the car for our 5 hour ride home from Grandma's on holidays. The best was the tambourine. That drove both Mom and Dad crazy and was soon "lost" in our home.
Yes, a tambourine ... it was the 70's afterall. Long hair, jeans, smocked tops and a tambourine. hahaha.
So, now I cannot figure out how to look back at whom all I included in this long post. If your name was not included, it is not cause I don't love you... it's cause I can't remember nor remember how to look back. So I guess that is my time to stop writing. As it is there is already a warning that others replied during the time I took to write this all down. I don't think I will even attempt the puzzle of the day with a brain like this today. Thanks for all the well wishes about my foot. I will survive that one too, just like you all have survived foot ailments. Peace for the remainder of this weekend to all. The Eaglette.
