Tomorrow I will be going to Miami for an eye shot so I won't post  I have a friend who will drive me.  Pat is busy packing as they are moving up to their house in northern Florida.  I will ;have to work out some transportation in the future.  Maybe find someone, a driver, I can hire for a reasonable amount.  I called a taxi firm and they quoted $600 for the trip.  I don't think I will use them.

63 and headed for 67.  A little cloudy off and on.  Sparky and I got back from a mile walk and I'm eating a ham sandwich and putzing on the computer, have the Orionis puzzle by JP and Cals to do.

Ended up calling my sister at 2 AM to let her a know a severe storm was moving in fast.  She said this morning that the worst of it must have squeaked by just over from her, but there was some hail and wind, but not as bad as they said it would be and was very glad I called.  She's outside of Carlsbad, TX, which is about 16 miles from San Angelo.

This struck me a bit at the bear center "....front counter that will route people in past the register and out through the gift shop."  Wouldn't they route it the other way so after seeing stuff and going through the gift area they could pay on their way out?  Or HAVE to go through the gift shop to go out?  ;)  That building is so much higher than I thought it was seeing the guys that had climbed up and looked so little.  It sure is nice.

Wow JP, Pat is moving to NORTH Florida?  That was nice that he was close, but you guys weren't on top of each other.  AND JP, you've been so used to rigid times and schedules with all the years in the Navy, but you don't HAVE to be up at a certain time.  If you didn't need the sleep you'd wake up earlier.  That's part of enjoying retirment!  :)  Good luck tomorrow with your eye shot.

It took me 6:11 to brief the Texas Rangers before they could go look for my lost marbles.

Good evening Jewelies! Boy am I tired! Crow and I worked outside all day. It was sunny and 75! Absolutely gorgeous! Trimmed up my apple tree and tore down some ratty looking lattice. Got a pile of stuff that needs taken to the landfill. We could take it ourselves but decided to hire someone  to do it for us if we can find someone! Tomorrow is supposed to be another beautiful day. I'm loving it!

Cal, good luck tomorrow at the dentist. I dread each time I have a dental appointment! I'd rather have a Pap test! Lol!  The bear center is really taking shape. Wish I lived close enough to visit it when it opens. I'm with you...not interested in seeing a birth! But the otters are so cute! Looks like you may be in for some stormy weather according to the weather channel! Hope you don't get a lot of rain. Concerning my neighbor that killed the bat...he was an avid hunter. He had a hunting cabin out in the country back in the sticks. He killed so many animals that I don't think it even fazed him to kill the bat. He thought it was rabid. He died about 10 years ago. He was in his late 80's. Man, was he a busy body. Always in everyone's business! He didn't like where we built our garage! He didn't like our 6 foot privacy fence. He didn't like it when we got our dog Mickey Sue! Just on and on. His daughter lives in the neighborhood and she is just like her dad! Lol! His wife, Grace, was very sweet. She shared her birthday with your mom and I...Oct 16!

Jp, good luck tomorrow with your eye shot! I hope your friend takes you to Cracker Barrel! Hope, too, that you can easily find a ride to your future eye shots.

Nora, glad your sister was ok. This El Nino winter has been a wild one! This week I'm enjoying it!

I'm not used to working so hard! Time for me to go to bed! Nite all! :)

Lily, Faith, Ticks - UPDATE March 8, 2016

Moving the white pine
Moving the white pine
This 2 ? minute video from May 14, 2011 shows a side of bears people would seldom see. Sue wouldn?t have been able to capture this video except for Lily?s life-long trust that began in the den where Lily was born to June. Lily completely ignores Sue holding a camera a couple feet away. Faith is trying to sleep. Lily is trying to remove ticks from her. Lily is being a good mom , working hard, and she is making a big difference. We have noticed a big increase in ticks on yearlings after family breakup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-Zg3IXSRAk. Building a trusting relationship that allows observations like this takes time?years in the case of Lily. The payoff is insights that wouldn?t be possible otherwise.

Exhibit platforms with displays in place
Exhibit platforms with displays in place
It feels good to know where Lily is sleeping in a den right now with Frannie, Frankie, and Francis. It also feels good to know where Jewel is denned with at least two newborn cubs. With temperatures in the 40?s (F) all day, snow is likely melting around Jewel?s entrance, making it easier to video her from a distance when the time is right. Knowing that the DNR helped a landowner intentionally bait June so a hunter could shoot her is one reason we would not let the Northwoods Images sign
Northwoods Images sign
DNR know the location of Lily?s den and the general location of her present territory.

At the Bear Center, people are working. Judy McClure, a.k.a JMac sent pictures of the progress that includes my first look at the new exhibit platforms in place with exhibits on them?classy, excellent. Scott, Glenn, and Don are moving a white pine in position to hold the Northwoods Images sign. That looks good in place, too! Way to go team, including all who make this possible.

Thank you for all you do.

Hey, Jewelies, is spring here to stay? Saw a red-winged blackbird, but haven't seen any robins yet. Boy, what warm weather! Have to go to the chiropractor this afternoon--a 45-min.-drive. He doesn't have appointments-sign my name on the list when I walk in. He's a good friend of ours, known him since college. He's mr. o's age (75) and still working. I'm trying to run the sweeper, any lifting, etc. before I go, so I can rest after my adjustment. Had a cool experience yesterday. In Krogers, I saw one of my 2nd graders-she's 41 now, and who should come around the corner, but my former principal. Hugs all around!!!!!!  Our vet offering free cat neutering Sat., so I'm going to take over a male who has adopted us. I'd like to take the mean white male who beats up on everybody, but he's way too wild. Maybe the one I'm taking Sat. will be safer. I've been told that it takes about 2 weeks before the testosterone is gone. Cal, hope your dental visit wasn't too bad. Jp, if we all could, we'd take you to your appts., no charge!!

Hope your eye shot goes well today JP!

Gee Cal our gas went down a bit and then jumped 20 cents in two days.  The "cheap" stuff with ethanol that isn't got up to !.99 and back to 1.89 and the decent gas has been 400 cents difference, so back up to 2.29/gal.  :(  Your toe, is it healing even though sore?  :-\

So far all the tornadoes have stayed east of my sister, closer to the surrounding area of Dallas/Fort Worth.

Wow Obsver, how neat to run into a former 2nd graders AND principal!!  Hope your adjustment helps.

Definitely not as nice as yesterday, but the sun is trying to come out.  It's up to 45, so about 20 degrees colder than yesterday with a west wind.  BUT spring must have sprung.  Speaking of bats, I had one swoosh past my head in the garage last night.  Joe looked a little surprise when I came in the front door and I said "don't open the door from the house into the garage"  :D

Those panda kids on the slide, love it.

Hope the dentist went well today Cal(?)

Cal, you are so funny!!  For drinks, I get Old Orchard Healthy Balance grape or cranberry juice. They each have only 6 g of sugar. Some of the juice in the stores is loaded with sugar. I hope you'll be able to stay off the pop--I never drink it, but when I was a little girl, I had a root beer, coke or pepsi every day. I remember reaching into the cold water in the cooler. Your might try water with a few drops of lemon juice, too. We get bottles of the lemon juice. Hi, rues, ra, nora, Dlong, neva, bischue, Willi, Eaglette, pat, deb, chippy! Jp, if we Jewelies took you to your appts., we'd sing to you, too!!!!!!!! Well, maybe ra wouldn't--she won't cross that bridge!

Hi Cal! I forgot to tell you  that I saw my first turkey vulture on Monday! I only saw one but I bet there were more nearby. Pop was a treat for us when we were little. I had to share a bottle of Pepsi with my younger sis. We always got the Pepsi with a bowl of popcorn on Saturday evening! We really looked forward to that! Lol! I sometimes have a can of diet Pepsi with breakfast. I don't like coffee. Wish I did because it smells so good! :D Glad all that rain passed you by! Some southern areas were hit bad. The rain is supposed to arrive here tomorrow evening. We are still in the high 70's, 20 degrees above normal! Wonder where the stray cat came from?

Jp, hope all went well for you today. Did you get to eat at Cracker Barrel?

Obsver, how cool that you got to see your former student and the principal! I figure all my teachers are dead now or in nursing homes! Lol!   They never offer free spay/neuter here. I wish they would then maybe there would be less abandoned animals. This warm spring weather is nice, isn't it? Still have the snow shovel on the back porch just in case! Lol!

Nora, our gas was 1.89 yesterday but today it dropped to 1.73! Who knows what it will be tomorrow! Legislators were talking about adding more taxes to each gallon to help with road repairs but at the last minute they changed their minds. Guess now we have to live with crappy roads!

Willi, thanks for the video!

Hi Ra!

Here's a 2013 picture of Jewel and Fern and Herbie.

I got back O.K. last night and all went well.  The 9 weeks stretch is a little too long.  Again there was moisture in the eye so my next appointment is in 8 weeks.

I enjoyed the panda slide video.  I really liked the point where the little panda was working his way up with the help of the side rail when one comes down and wipes him out.

cal, you said you liked my posting nothing so I will try to accommodate you periodically by posting nothing again. Yes, I drink pop.  I particularly like root beer.  I remember when the stores had open tubs of water with ice and the pop bottles were standing in that to keep them cold.  I remember when Pepsi Cola came out, originally, with paper labels.  Putting them in the water the labels would soak off and float around in the tubs.

The NABC is going to be a lovely lay out.  The pictures are great.

I am still trying to find some one who will be able to drive me to Miami when I need to go.  I can not expect my friend (who drove me yesterday) to do that all the time.  I am thinking of some young man who would do it for a couple of hundred dollars.

All of you are on my good though list and those good thoughts go out for you to have a great Thursday.
